Wheels and tires

Tires and wheels (on disk wheels) are important elements of car design.

Installation and repair of tires requires special tools and skills. These works may only be performed by professionals.

For reasons of safety, it should be possible to change a tire, not individually and at least the axes. Less worn tires must always be placed on the front wheels.

All four wheels should have only radial tires of the same design, the same size (the same circumference) and possible execution of the same tire. If you have a tread pattern that defines the direction of rotation of the tires on the side of the tire are arrow indicators (see. Fig. Location of the arrow indicating the direction of rotation of the tire). In this case, you should strictly observe the direction of rotation of the tire. This provides optimal driving performance tires, its grip on the wet road surface and reduces wear and noise generated by the tire. When changing the punched wheel is temporarily set to the rotation of the tire against a predetermined, it ispolzova of this mode should be short.

Four wheel drive, in addition, all tires should be the same model of the same manufacturer.

Otherwise, the visco-coupling of the emerging differences in speed both axles is not desirable to raise the proportion of thrust attributable to the rear axle. This can lead to breakage.

Various tread depth of tires of front and rear wheels, for instance as a result of wear is not as important. However, it is recommended to set the tire with a greater tread depth to the front wheels - if the front wheel tires are worn more than the rear tires, they have a smaller circumference and rotate so quickly. Therefore, there are additional stresses in the drive train and the tires wear out faster.

If the tire of a spare wheel in its execution differs from the other vehicle tires (for example, winter or generalist), such a spare tire should be used only briefly in the event of failure of one of the tires of the car and under the guide of increased caution driving. Instead of the wheel should be as soon as possible to establish again the old wheel.

Never put a used tire on the car, if it is not known where and how it worked before.

Knowledge of tire labeling helps in selecting them (see. Fig. Location of marking tires). Radial tires have on the tire sidewall marked as follows, for example:

195/65 R 15 91 T

195 - section width, mm

65 - the ratio of height to width of the tire profile%

R - the location of the carcass cords - letter designation for radial tires

15 - the diameter of the disk rim, inches

91 - the index of the load bearing capacity

T - speed index

Speed Index
Maximum speed
Q
160 km / h
S
180 km / h
T
190 km / h
H
210 km / h
V
240 km / h
W
270 km / h

Release date is also specified on the tire sidewall (in some cases only on the inner surface of the tire).

DOT CUL UM8-507 TUBELESS

DOT - manufacturer

CU - a code mark of the manufacturer

L2 - the tire size

UM8 - the type of tire

507 - manufacturing date (Week 50 1997)

TUBELESS - tubeless tire (TUBETYPE - chamber).

Marking wheels: 6J x 15 deciphered as follows:

6J - width of the disc in inches;

J - the height of the edge of the disc board;

x - a deep drive;

15 - boarding disc diameter in inches.
