Adjusting the front toe is performed by changing the length of the tips of steering drafts in threaded connections. Tips of steering drafts should have no play. If there is damage to their protective covers should be replaced immediately. Replacement tips of steering drafts can be performed without removing the steering gear.
Withdrawal
PERFORMANCE ORDER | 1. On engines with five valves, remove the air filter from the air intake pipe. | 2. On the four-cylinder engines unscrew the nut and screw and remove thermofilter see. Fig. Elements of fastening thermofilter. | 3. Loosen the bolts of the front wheels, then lift the front of the car and fix on supports. Remove the front wheels. | 4. Remove the plastic nut (1), then, using a thin blade screwdriver, remove the two clamps (2) and remove the casing of a steering rod. See fig. Elements of fastening of a casing of a steering rod. | | 5. Loosen the clamps that hold the protective cover of steering transfer. | 6. Loosen the bolts (3 and 4) (see. Fig. Elements of the top fastening of a rotary fist) securing the tie rod and tie rod to move down. | | 7. Move the protective cover of steering transfer on the tie rod and, using a special tool VAG 1923, unscrew the tie rod. | 8. Remove the tie rod from the car. |

Setting
PERFORMANCE ORDER | 1. Check and, if necessary, replace the tie rod or the hinge of steering draft. | 2. If necessary, unscrew the tip of the steering tie rod, thus count the number of revolutions at unscrewing. Screw the new tip into the steering tie rod on the same number of turns. | 3. If a new steering draft measure and, if necessary, adjust the length of pull, and its length should be equal to the length of the tie rod is removed. | | 4. Tighten the nut (B) track rod 40 Nm, and the Grip at hexagon tie rod (A). | 5. Install the tie rod into place and screw it to the steering gear. | 6. Install the tie rod end to the knuckle and tighten the bolt (3) (see. Fig. Elements of the top fastening of a rotary fist) 7 Nm. Screw a new self-locking nut (4) and tighten it to 45 Nm. | 7. Replace the protective cover of steering transfer and fix its collars. | 8. Apply a thin coat of grease on the collar, drive wheel centering. Install the wheel and secure it with screws. | 9. Lower the car on the earth and tighten wheel bolts torque of 120 Nm. | 10. On engines with five valves, set the air filter and air intake tube. | 11. In the four-cylinder engines and replace the screw thermofilter. | 12. Check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment. |
