Symptoms of brake system
| Fig. 2.46. Indicator signals the failure of brake system
|
When the brake fault warning light will illuminate the appropriate indicator (Fig. 2.46). The brake pedal will have an increased stroke, and for the normal braking will require slightly more effort to press. When a warning indicator light, stop immediately and check the level in the brake fluid reservoir. If the brake fluid level is below the minimum (MIN) in any part of the tank, it is necessary to stop the trip and tow the car to the service station for inspection and repair possible faults.
NOTE The brake pads are equipped with mechanical wear indicators. The sharp metallic sound will indicate the need to replace the brake pads. |
Moisture on the brake discs and brake linings can impair braking. Driving in heavy rain and slush, or use an automatic car wash can lead to the accumulation of water on the brake discs and linings. This causes a slow braking when the pedal is pressed. In such situations, it is recommended from time to time slightly press the brake pedal. The heat released when the heat will promote evaporation of moisture on the brakes. It should also be performed after washing the car or when leaving it in very humid weather. It should also be remembered that the brake servo is effective only when the engine is running. Therefore, when towing your vehicle or coasting to a stop with the engine turned off, you have to press the brake pedal is about four times stronger than in normal driving, because the amplifier will not operate. When a faulty servo you feel that the force on the brake pedal sharply.
