Rear Defrost

Rear Defrost a plurality of horizontal conductors deposited on the inner surface of the rear window.
For detection of rupture of a conductor of a heater of back glass include ignition switch and rear window defogger.

Using the output voltmeter, wrapped with foil for the detection of rupture of a conductor of a heater of back glass
Fig. 18.73. Using the output voltmeter, wrapped with foil for the detection of rupture of a conductor of a heater of back glass

Connect one lead of the voltmeter to the "weight" of a vehicle, and a second terminal, wrap in foil and move on a heater conductor (Fig. 18.73).

Application of the voltmeter to detect the broken conductor of a heater of back glass
Fig. 18.74. Application of the voltmeter to detect the broken conductor of a heater of back glass

Connect a voltmeter to the output in the center of each conductor of a heater of back glass. If the voltmeter shows voltage of about 5 V, then the heater conductor is serviceable. If the voltage on the voltmeter 0 or 12 - conductor heater broken (Fig. 18.74).

Application of the voltmeter to detect the break conductor rear window defogger
Fig. 18.75. Application of the voltmeter to detect the break conductor rear window defogger

To detect the break conductor of a heater connect one lead of the voltmeter to the positive terminal of the heater, and the second - move on a heater conductor from the negative terminal of the heater. The point at which the voltage shown by the voltmeter, will fall to zero, is a place of rupture of a conductor of a heater (Fig. 18.75).
