Installation of the piston of the first cylinder to TDC of the compression stroke
The piston of 1st cylinder is set to TDC (top dead center) of the compression stroke so that during the works related to the removal of the camshaft drive belt does not violate the timing. If you violate camshaft engine will not operate normally. Expose the TDC marking on the camshaft pulley (with installation of markings on the crankshaft pulley in this position may be a piston or the 1st or 4th cylinder). After that, be sure to check the coincidence of markings on the crankshaft pinion (if removed alternator drive pulley). If the label on the crankshaft pulley do not match, then the installation broken timing (the piston cylinder 1 is not set to TDC). In this case, remove the drive belt camshaft and crankshaft to align the labels. HELPFUL ADVICE Since the turn the crankshaft bolt for pulley him uncomfortable, you can do it in the following ways: 1) include any transfer (fourth best) and slowly rental car before combination of labels; 2) include any transfer and hang out one of the front wheels. Then turn the wheel to align the posted labels |

Label 4 (Fig. 5.3) on the camshaft pulley must be aligned with the slot (label 3 in Fig. 5.3) on the back cover of the timing. If the label on a pulley of a drive of auxiliary units (painted hollow ring gear pulley) should be next to the pointer (projection) on the lower timing cover. In addition, the label affixed on the crankshaft pinion. It becomes visible after removal of the accessory drive pulley. The triangular mark on the timing pulley must align with the slot on the bottom cover of the timing. You will need: face head "10", "17" key "12". 2. Remove the right front wheel.
WARNINGS Loosen the bolts fastening the wheel only on the car standing on the earth. |
If you work on a pit or trestle, place thrust bars under the wheels, brake the car and set the parking brake front of the vehicle on a suitable support.
| | 6. Remove the three screws on the pulley power steering pump, keeping a pulley from turning a screwdriver ... | 7. ... and remove the pulley. |
8. Loosen the two screws on the power steering pump without twisting them altogether.
NOTE Loosen fixing the power steering pump is necessary because without removing the pump from the engine will not be able to separate the front and bottom timing cover and remove the front cover. |
| | 9. Remove the four screws on the front timing cover and remove the cover. | 10. Turn a cranked shaft of the bolt of the pulley to it to match the marks on the camshaft pulley with a cut on the back cover of the timing. |
11. Check the match marks on the accessory drive pulley with a pointer to the lower timing cover.
