Drive shaft with SHRUS ball-type and type Birfield
Dismantling | - Do not disassemble SHRUS type Birfield.
- For lubrication of constant velocity joints, use only special grease.
- When assembling SHRUS necessary to establish new collars.
|
Check | - Check the ball constant velocity joints for signs of rust, damage to the outer ring, the inner ring and balls.
- Check the condition of the drive shaft splines.
- Check for signs of rust, water and foreign objects in the boot band Birfield.
| | If SHRUS Birfield should be reused, do not remove the grease from it. Make sure that no grease any impurities. If necessary, clean and replace CV joints Birfield it lubricated. |
|
|
|
Assembly | - Before installing a cover for its protection wrap drive shaft splines from the ball joint with adhesive tape.
- Grease the drive shaft and install the cover.
| - To set the dynamic damper position SHRUS Birfield in a straight line relative to the shaft, the damper position at a certain distance and fix its clip.
Distance setting the damper (A) - Cars with engines of 1.6 and 1.8 liters with MCP: 467.5 (2/0) mm - Cars with engines of 2.0 MCP 469 (2/0) mm
|
| - Lubricate the inner ring and the housing. Install the housing so that the offset to the rolling surface was located as shown in the figure.
|
| Use the lubricant supplied with the repair kit. |
Lubricate the casing and the balls disposed in the housing. Install the hinge as shown in the illustration, and secure it with retaining ring. Put the required amount of lubricant in the outer ring and install it on the drive shaft. Put the required amount of lubricant in the protective cover and set the cover on the hinge. Attach the protective cover clamps ball type. Add the SHRUS Birfield much grease as it was wiped out during the inspection of the hinge. Install covers. Attach the protective cover SHRUS Birfield collars.
| - To check the air pressure in a cover hinge T.J. maintain the required distance between the clamps securing the protective cover or the length of the drive shaft when tightening the clamps. Nominal length drive shafts given in the table.
