Airbag - general information
These vehicles are equipped with an auxiliary restrictive system (SRS), often called the airbag. The design of the system allows the driver to prevent getting serious injury in the event of a frontal impact of the vehicle. The system consists of an airbag module located in the center of the steering wheel, the two shock sensor fixed in front of the vehicle and the control module also including a sensor pin arranged in the vehicle. The airbag module | Airbag control unit (arrow) is located under the console - make sure that the yellow plug is not disconnected from it. |
The module consists of a cushion placed in the casing of the air bag (airbag) and its blowing device. Assembling inflating airbag is fixed to the rear of the casing above the hole, into which is fed the gas bag inflates almost instantly by an electric signal system. Specially curled wire transmitting the signal module is called the clock spring. Spring Formation of a flat conductive metal strip which when the steering wheel is twisted and untwisted, retaining the ability to transmit a signal regardless of the position of the wheel. Sensors The system is equipped with three sensors: two of them (shock sensor) located on the front of the vehicle behind the bumper, the third (safety) is in the control unit in the center console between the front seats of the car. The front impact sensors are sensitive to changes in pressure sensors, switches, conducting electrical circuit in the event of a shock load set value. The electrical signal from the impact sensor is sent to the safety sensor control module, which finally closes the circuit, providing inflating airbag. The control module (ASDM) ASDM includes a safety sensor and on-board microprocessor, which monitors system operation. Monitoring is carried out each time you start the engine, providing a warning light AIRBAG (bag) for a short time (which indicates the health of the system). If the system has a problem, the lamp stays on and the control safety system (ASDM) records in its memory the appropriate code. If the warning light does not go out after starting the engine, the car should be driven away immediately for diagnosis system in the dealer division of Chrysler. Turning off the system When working in the vicinity of the steering wheel, column, or near other system components SRS, it (the system) should be temporarily taken out of the state of readiness. What should take the following steps: | - Turn the ignition key to OFF.
- Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
- Wait at least two minutes necessary for discharging capacitor which acts as an auxiliary power source

Putting the system in a state of readiness To write the SRS in a state of readiness to perform the following steps: | - Turn the ignition key to OFF.
- Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
- Turn the key to ON. Make sure that the warning light lit up at 6 - 8 seconds, then it goes out, confirming the reliability of the system.
