Anti-lock braking system (ABS) - the general information
ABS is set as mandatory equipment on all models covered in this manual car brand. The system is designed to maintain the car's handling, directional stability and maximum braking performance at high braking loads, regardless of the road surface. This is done by monitoring the relative rotational speeds of all four wheels and controlling the pressure in the hydraulic lines, each wheel continuously during braking. The system prevents premature wheel lock during heavy braking of the vehicle. Components The electronic control unit (ECU) ECU is located on the mudguard of the left (driver's side) wing in the engine compartment of the car is the "brain" of the system ABS. The structure consists of two microprocessor ECU, receives and analyzes both from the sensors of each of the wheels. In the event of a failure in the ABS system it self is commanding a yellow warning light located in the instrument panel. System DTCs are stored in the diagnostic program, but they can not be read without the use of a scanner DRB II. The codes are stored in system memory until it is erased or not after starting the engine 50 fold. When disconnecting the battery erase fault codes recorded ABS system does not occur. The hydraulic control unit (HCU) HCU includes valve body assembly and the pump motor. The valve body is placed on three switchable electrical signal solenoid valves - one for each of the front wheels and one for both rear wheels - which modulates the hydraulic pressure in the brake system during the braking process. When squeezing the brake pedal solenoid valves begin to continuously and with high frequency switched-off command ECU, implementing necessary to prevent wheel lockup modulation hydraulic pressure in the system. A pump assembly supplies hydraulic circuits in the additional amount of liquid required to prevent premature blocking of the wheels. The pump is connected to the master cylinder reservoir through the supply and return hoses, and actuated by an electric DC power, the control unit ECU. Wheel speed sensor Speed sensors mounted on each of the four wheels and the rotation of the toothed rotor sensors produce electrical impulses that are sent in the ECU and provides the latest information on the wheel speed. Gauges of speed of rotation of the front wheels are installed in the steering knuckle near the gear rotors are pressed onto the front drive shafts. Sensors pribolcheny rear wheels to brake shields. A gear rotor pressed onto the half-line of the rear axle. Troubleshooting and repair If the warning light on the instrument panel lights up and stays on during operation of the vehicle, the ABS system is in need of attention. Although a diagnostic fault code reader is required DRB II, some primary checks can be made before the car is driven away in dealer branch: | - Check the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir.
- Lift the mat directly in front of the floor console and make sure that the electrical connector ECU connected and secure.
- Check the condition of the pump motor electrical connector system.
- Check the condition of fuse ABS (Head of System of an onboard electric equipment).
- Walk along the wiring harnesses of each wheel, checking the electrical connections are secure and the state of the wiring.

If the execution of the above preliminary checks will help identify the cause of the failure, the car should be driven away in dealer branch of Chrysler for a full range of diagnostic ABS system with special equipment.
