Bleeding brake system

Readers are invited below describes how to manually pumping the brakes. This procedure is the only procedure of pumping units braking system, which can be performed in-house mechanics amateur. If air, for any reason fall in the hydraulic control unit (HCU), necessary to make use of pumping with a diagnostic scanner DRB II, and then repeat the manual pumping. When squeezing the brake pedal there is a feeling of softness of its course, even after pumping the brakes, drag car dealer branch, which will be made pumping systems with the use of the scanner DRB II. Operating vehicle without performing a pumping becomes dangerous, as another way to bleed the HCU does not exist.

When bleeding the brake system wear safety glasses. If the liquid gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

Bleeding the braking system is made for the purpose of removing the air got into it when disconnecting circuit during repair components.

If air has got into the system as a result of the fall of the liquid level or disconnect the brake lines from the master cylinder, it is necessary to pump all four brakes. To accomplish this requires a pumping scanner DRB II - Have the car towed to a workshop of dealer branch of company Chrysler.

If disconnection of the line was made only one of the mechanisms that will be enough to pump a caliper or wheel cylinder of the mechanism.

If the line is disconnected from the nozzle located between the master cylinder and a brake, it is necessary to pump the whole circuit, which includes the nipple.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Several times the brake pedal with the engine off, reset the residual vacuum brake booster.
  2. Remove the master cylinder reservoir cap and top up the brake fluid in it. Replace the cover.

During pumping always check the fluid level in the tank and if necessary refilled. Too much fluid level will drop to the ingress of air into the system and all work will be put down the drain.

  1. For the procedure, you must have a fresh brake fluid and help the assistant. In addition, prepare a transparent container, which pour a little brake fluid and the length of a plastic or rubber hose with a diameter of about 4.8 mm, which must be worn tightly on the valve pumping and wrench and twist the valve of giving.
  2. Start with the right rear wheel. Loosen bleeding valve of the wheel cylinder and tighten sufficiently to ensure tightness, leaving the possibility of free and quick loosening.
  3. Attach one end to the prepared tube pumping valve, and a second dip in a transparent container so that he was immersed in the liquid.
  1. When pumping brake hose connected to the valve pumping on a support or wheel cylinder and immersed in a transparent vessel poured brake fluid - expels air from the system will be released in the form of bubbles (pumping should continue until such time as air bubbles will not stop).
  1. Ask an assistant several times to swing the brake pedal and then hold it depressed.
  2. As long as the pedal is held depressed, open the valve pumping enough to provide access through a liquid / air. Watch for the release of air bubbles through the liquid immersion end of the tube. When the flow of the effluent after a couple of seconds to weaken, tighten the valve and ask the assistant to release the pedal.
  3. Repeat the procedure of paragraphs 7 and 8 above as long as the air stops out of the tube. Then tighten the bleeding valve and continue to brake mechanisms of the left rear wheel. When you are finished pumping, go to the right, and then - to the left front wheel. Do not forget about the need for constant monitoring of the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir.
  4. In no case do not use the drained brake fluid again! It is hygroscopic and will inevitably contain moisture, greatly reducing the effectiveness of braking.
  5. At the end of pumping refill the tank of the main cylinder fresh brake fluid.
  6. Check the operation of the braking system. The pedal should be squeezed out with a solid resistance - without feeling the softness of the course. In case of failure to do so, repeat the pumping system.

In no case did not proceed to the operation of the vehicle, if there is no confidence in the braking efficiency.

  1. At the end of pumping perform sea trials, ensure correct functioning of the braking system.
