Eliminating gaps primary, secondary shaft and the shaft of the differential housing of the main transfer
| Fig. 3.59. Eliminating gaps before installing bearings
|
To install the bearing set Special tools (rods) in the openings A and B of selectors and turn the selectors so as to enlarge the gap. After that, turn special tool in the opposite direction to eliminate the gap (Fig. 3.59).
Use the dipstick to measure the gap in the special adaptation (selector) (Fig. 3.61).
ATTENTION Measure the gap around the entire circumference of the selector. Remember the maximum value and select the pad as follows. |
Shim for input shaft: Select the thinnest allowable shim from the table to obtain standard clearance. Standard clearance: 0-0.05 mm. Example: value measurement probe - 0.57 mm; thickness range spacers (0.57 mm - 0.05 mm) - (0.57 mm - 0 mm) = 0.52 mm - 0.57 mm; installation: 0.55 mm.
Adjusting Disc output shaft: Select the thinnest allowable shim from the table output shaft to get the standard gap. The amount of interference: 0.03-0.08 mm. Example: probe measurement value: 0.57 mm; thickness range spacers (0.57 mm + 0.03 mm) - (0.57 mm + 0.08 mm) = 0.60 mm - 0.65 mm; installation: 0.60 mm.
Install special tool and the dynamometer or a torque wrench (Fig. 3.62).
Adjust the clearance of the special adaptation (selector) to obtain a certain value of preload / dynamometer (Fig. 3.63).
NOTE Read the preload when the differential starts to turn. Measure several times and calculate the average. |
Preload: 0.5 Nm. The value on the dynamometer: 5 N.

|
Use a feeler gauge in the selector for the differential (Fig. 3.64). Add 0.15 mm to the measured clearance and select the combination of gaskets, which gives the value closest to the measured. Example: 0.32 mm + 0.15 mm = 0.47 mm. Nearest gasket (thick side): 0.47 mm - 0.50 mm Remove the final drive housing and a special device. Remove the selectors, the primary shaft and differential. Remove the bearing race.

Install the shim (s) and the input shaft bearing race using a suitable pipe (Fig. 3.65).
ATTENTION Use shim (s) selected when adjusting the preload in the bearing. |

Install the shim (s) and the shaft of the differential bearing race using a suitable pipe (Fig. 3.66).
ATTENTION Use shim (s) selected when adjusting the preload in the bearing. |
