Rear sleeve crankshaft is assembled in a holder which is bolted to the rear end wall of the cylinder, and is its cover. In Fig. 65 shows a holder sleeve of the crankshaft to the right. Correct position of the crankshaft relative to the axis defined by the two landing pins are arranged on each side of it. Sealing of the cylinder block is provided by sealant Loctite. When replacing any of the cuffs, proceed as follows: - Remove the gearbox; - Remove the flywheel or the drive plate torque converter (Sect. 2.8.4);

- If only necessary to replace the collar, then it is removed with a screwdriver, as shown in Fig. 92. A piece of thick cloth should enclose a foothold screwdriver in order not to damage other parts; - To turn the fixing bolts on the outer perimeter of the holder and two bolts from the bottom;

- Under the collar of the two screwdrivers inserted in the places indicated by arrows in Fig. 93, and gently press it on the cylinder; - Cuff if necessary can be removed with a screwdriver at the same time without causing damage to the holder; - Thoroughly clean contact surfaces on the cover and the cylinder block; - Insert new seal into the holder, if it has been removed from it. The sealing lip of the new ring is displaced by 3 mm, so it will not work on the flange of the crankshaft to the same point as the old ring. The space between the sealing lip and the dust should be completed about 1 g of grease; - The sealing surface of the lid to put sealant and attach it to the cylinder block so that the alignment pins entered into the holes provided for them. Gently tap the top of the lid to make it denser lay. On HUNDRED company Mercedes-Benz used for this purpose a special clamping tool; - Tighten the two bottom screws, then the rest of 10 N ? m; - Continue the work carried out in the reverse order of removal.
