Before the onset of the cold season, check the coolant level of frost. To do this, open the expansion tank cap and test the device to pick up some of the liquid. The device shown in Fig. 149, just one of many similar testers. Other devices can be used for the extraction of rubber bulb. On a scale of the device, as shown, or the position of the float in the other test devices to determine the density of a cooling liquid and if necessary to add the required amount of antifreeze.

Note
From Mercedes recommends using only certain brands of antifreeze. In case of any doubt, contact the service station. This is particularly important if the vehicle has not yet expired warranty period: non-recommended fluid can damage engine parts made of light alloy or radiator.
