Dismantling of the half-line

Details of the half-line
Fig. 231. Details of the half-line: 1 - a shaft half-line; 2 - a cover of the bearing; 3 - cuff (always to be replaced); 4 - pad (always to be replaced); 5 - Slotted Nut; 6 - lock washer; 7 - a sealing ring of square section; 8 - the bearing; 9 - a protective casing

As for fixing the locknuts used for bearing replacement requires a special key, which provides a substantial torque. Please be aware that turned away a nut inside the axis can cause severe damage. To remove the bearings also require a stripper. In Fig. 231 shows the axis in a disassembled state. Dismantling the half-line should be carried out as follows:
- Clamp the axle shaft in a vise. Raskontrit two slot nuts, tilting the edge of the lock washer. For a better retention of the half-line in the grip screw it two wheel bolts and tighten with them;

Unscrewing the grooved nut with a special wrench
Fig. 232. Unscrewing slotted nut with a special wrench

- Unscrew slotted nut, as shown in Fig. 232, with the following conditions: left nut has left-hand thread, right - right-hand thread. Nut with left-hand thread can be identified by the groove with the outside;
- Remove the lock washer from the shaft half-line;

Installing a special removable plate for pressing out the shaft
Fig. 233. Installing a special removable plate for pressing out the shaft

- Pliers to remove from the axle shaft bearing and bearing cap with cuff. If you have difficulties, please contact the service station, since the usual stripper in this case there is no suitable point of support. If there is news, a special removable plate (in Fig. 233 is a plate used in the workshop) inserted between the flange axis and bearing cap, squeeze her end of the press and press out the shaft;
- After removing the bearing cap with a suitable punch to remove the gland;
- All the parts thoroughly rinse and hold Troubleshooting.
During assembly, proceed as follows:
- Apply universal grease to the sealing lips and insert it into the outside of the bearing cover. The outer edge of the stuffing box must be installed flush. For installation use a mandrel;

Installation of the bearing cover (1) and the gasket (2) on the semi-axis shaft (3)
Fig. 234. Installing bearing cover (1) and the gasket (2) on the semi-axis shaft (3)

- Set bearing cover to the shaft axis and lay on top of the gasket (Fig. 234). Then, install the shaft guard;

Pressing the bearing on the shaft half-line
Fig. 235. Pressing the bearing on the shaft half-line

- Press on the bearing to the shaft axis. To do this, enclose the inner ring of the bearing and the Press on the outside of the shaft (flange). Overmolding process is shown in Fig. 235. To facilitate the work of the bearing can be heated to 80 ? C. Do not damage the bearing;
- Give the bearing cool down and put on rollers sufficient amount of lubricant;
- O-ring with a square cross-section pressed onto the bearing;

Tightening the nuts bearing half-line
Fig. 236. Tightening the nuts bearing half-line

- Set a new lock washer (flat side of the nut to the splined) and tighten the nut according to the specified requirements: the nut with the groove to set the correct side. Set shown in Fig. 236 wrench and tighten the nut to 300-350 Nm. If the tool is not required, the nut should be tightened to the service station;
- Lock the nut to fix its slots by bending the edge of the lock washer. This is to prevent the spontaneous loosening nuts.
