Inspection and restoration of the crankshaft and bearings

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Make sure that the surface of the connecting rod and main journals are no gaps and scratches. Check roundness of crankpins in several positions with the help of a micrometer. If the roundness greater than 0.05 mm, the crankshaft should be reground. In the same way, check the root neck.
  2. If you want to regrinding crankshaft and installing new bearings, zagotovte inserts increased the size of the repair.
  3. If the axial offset exceeds the tolerances, replace the main bearing shells. Be sure to replace the liners during engine overhaul, even if they are outside the state is not in doubt. If after examination of the crankshaft can be considered suitable for further operation without rounding, make sure that the new pads are identical to the inserts removed, which may have a nominal or reduced the size of the repair.
  1. Worn bearings can be accurately determined using the dial Plastigage. Place plastic wire across the dry shaft neck. Then slide the main bearing cap and tighten the bolts to the specified torque. After removing the cover, check the width of special thread pattern and compare the working gap with the data specifications.

The magnitude of the gap is determined by the working width of the filaments with a special pattern

  1. If car models with a manual transmission pilot bearing in the rear end of the crankshaft has a teaser or noise when turning, remove the stripper and put the new bearing.
