Checking the status of the battery and care
 | When working with the battery should take certain precautions. The battery bank is always a highly flammable hydrogen, so do not place the battery near an open flame. Battery electrolyte is a solution of sulfuric acid, which if it enters the eyes or on the open areas of the body causing serious injury. In addition, the acid corrodes clothes and paints. When disconnecting the battery, always disconnect the negative cable first and connect it last! |
Caring for the battery is important as it is required to perform the appropriate tool. | - Before performing any maintenance always first switch off the engine and disconnect all electrical appliances, and then disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
- Considered cars can be equipped with different battery: maintenance-free and serviced as well as with or without indicator and charge the electrolyte level. On non-performing batteries is expected only to check the electrolyte level and the adjustment of its level is not available.
- Check the electrolyte level in each of the cans of the battery - it must be between the ?MIN? and ?MAX? on the battery. If the labels are not visible in the service pack, remove the cap and look inside - the electrolyte level should reach the edges of the plastic. If the battery has a light, the electrolyte level and the charge can be checked by its color. The green light indicates a normal charge, a black light indicates low battery and discolored or pale yellow light indicates a low level of the electrolyte.
- If a battery is serviced, if necessary, bring the electrolyte level to the desired value separately for each section, adding distilled water through the holes closed with plugs.
 | Overflow cans can cause transfusion electrolyte during fast charge that will corrode and damage the nearest to the battery components. |
- If the positive terminal of the battery and the wire clamp equipped with rubber protector, make sure that it is not torn or damaged. He must completely cover the terminal.
- You should periodically inspect the external condition of the battery in the presence of damage such as cracks in the housing.
- Check the tightening of nuts Wire clamps battery, providing a good electrical connection. Check each of the wires along the entire length for cracks and frayed insulation and conductive core.
- If you find traces of corrosion (usually a soft touch white) Disconnect the, strip them with a wire brush and then reconnect. The appearance of corrosion can be minimized by installing washers specially treated, or treated with acid-free vaseline or contact a suitable lubricant.
- Make sure the bolt mounting bracket is securely tightened. If the battery was removed from the tray, make sure that during installation, it does not lay any foreign objects. Do not tighten its bolt mounting bracket is too tight - see. Specifications.
- For more information about the battery and start the engine from the auxiliary power supply can be found in chapters Systems of an electric motor and in the Introduction.
