Checking the suspension components and steering
 | Components of a steering drive and suspension should be checked regularly - wear can cause excessive and dangerous tire wear, deterioration of driving performance and handling as well as improve fuel consumption. For more information about the components of the suspension and steering systems, see Chapter Suspension and steering. |
Check shock absorbers | - Park the vehicle on level ground, switch off the engine and cock a lay brake. Check the inflation pressure of tires.
- Click hand on one of the corners of the car and release the hand. Note the movement of the body. He must cease to swing and return to the starting position after one or two oscillations.
- If the vehicle continues to swing or not returned to its original position, the possible cause is a worn shock absorber.
- Repeat the above procedure for each of the other three corners of the car.
- Poddomkratte car and reliably establish it on props.
- Inspect the dampers for signs of fluid leakage. Light liquid film is not cause for concern. If a leak is detected, make sure that the liquid flows because of the shock absorber and not somewhere else.
- Check the installation and the integrity of the shock absorbers. Check the upper support struts for damage and wear. In the event of such replace the rack.
- If necessary, replace the shock absorbers consult the instructions to the Head Suspension and steering. Always replace both components on the same bridge. If possible, try to replace all four components are included.

Check other suspension components and steering | - Inspect the components of the steering system for damage and deformation. Note the damaged protective covers.
- Clean the knuckle of dirt in the ball joint suspension. Ask the assistant to grab the bottom edge of the wheel and shake it, and themselves at this time, watch the movement of the ball joint connecting the steering knuckle lever suspension. Inspect the anthers suspension ball joints for breaks. If you notice play or torn anther, ball bearings and boot it should be replaced.
- Grab each of the front wheels of the front and rear edges and try to turn it into the front edge and the rear outside to check for play in the steering transmission. If backlash is found, check for loose mounting of the steering mechanism and rod ends. Loose fastening tighten. The reason for the weakened rod ends can be worn joints (first check the reliability of a tightening of nuts). Check the condition of the anthers steering ball joints tips. If the anthers tips torn, replace them with tips. For more information on the steering system and suspension can be found in Chapter Suspension and steering.

Check backlash steering | - Set the steering wheel straight.
- Turn the steering wheel from side to side, watching while behind the front wheels. The steering wheel may have a clearance of not more than 35 mm.
- With a larger wheel play, check the steering control and the steering mechanism.
