Troubleshooting clutch

Clutch slips

Insufficient free wheeling clutch pedal. Check, make adjustments.

Faulty clutch mechanism. Check, make the necessary repairs.

Faulty main or executive cylinder of coupling. Check overhauled hydraulic clutch.

Worktop worn clutch disc. Check, replace the drive if it is friction linings are worn to less than 0.3 mm in elevation over the heads of the rivets (see. Accompanying illustration).

Faulty actuator unit (model 4.2). Check, replace if necessary.

Usually the first sign of a slipping clutch is a noticeable increase in engine speed wanton when taking steep climbs. To check the clutch firmly cock a lay brake, prop up car wheels wedges and place the transmission in the highest position of the transmission, then at medium engine speeds slowly release the clutch. If the engine does not stall while, clutch slip occurs. In order to avoid more serious damage to the clutch should immediately check and make the necessary repairs or replacement.

There are jerks and vibrations clutch

Dirty oil countertops slave drive. Check, if necessary, replace the disk. Find the source of the leak and eliminate the cause.

Weakened or damaged clutch disc hub. Check, replace the drive.

Is loose friction linings slave drive. Check, replace the drive.

There were cracks in the working surface of the pressure plate (see. Accompanying illustration). Check, replace the assembly clutch.

Scratched the surface of the pressure plate or flywheel. Check, replace the clutch basket, or flywheel.

Vibration coupling usually most noticeable when reversing up a slope. Since one of the causes of vibration is the weakening of support of the power unit before removing the clutch for inspection, carefully check the condition of rubber mounts and brackets supports, as well as the reliability of their attachment.

There is a tacking clutch

Broken support of the power unit, or weakening their attachment (see. Accompanying illustration). Tighten fittings or replace defective bearings.

Dirty oil worktop slave drive. Check, replace the drive. Find the source of the leak and eliminate the cause.

There were cracks in the working surface of the pressure plate. Check, replace the assembly clutch.

There is no clutch

Excessive free wheeling clutch pedal. Adjust the pedal.

The hydraulic clutch system is air. Bleed the hydraulic system.

Faulty clutch slave cylinder. Check overhauled or make replacement cylinder.

Faulty clutch master cylinder. Check overhauled or make replacement cylinder.

Faulty clutch mechanism. Check, make the necessary repairs.

Is bent clutch disc. Check, replace the drive.

The hub drive plate jammed in the slots of the primary shaft of the gearbox. Check, if necessary, replace the drive or input shaft.

Slave drive "has become attached" to the flywheel due to ingress of moisture in the clutch cover. Check coupling, seal the casing.

Faulty actuator unit (model 4.2). Check, replace the unit.

Since in most cases incomplete clutch is associated with the violation of free wheeling adjustment or height adjustment clutch pedal before removing clutch for inspection, carefully check the relevant settings and bleed the hydraulic system.

In operation, the clutch hold noises

Too dry or worn release bearing. Check, replace the bearing.

Damaged diaphragm spring pressure plate. Check for the presence of the spring onto the grooves and other damage (see. Accompanying illustration), if necessary, replace the disk.

Worn or not lubricated guide sleeve of a primary shaft. Check, if necessary, replace the plug.

To check the noise emitted by release bearing slightly depress the clutch pedal with the engine running. If the release bearing is defective and must be replaced as required to check the status of other components of the clutch.
