The air conditioning system

general information

The air conditioning system is used for cooling and dehumidifying the air inside the vehicle.

The system can be used separately in warmer weather, and in conjunction with the heater in the cold. In the second case the supplies in the interior of dry warm air, so you can quickly remove condensation from the windows.

The main components of the air conditioning system are the evaporator, condenser, compressor, receiver / drier, expansion valve and connecting fittings, consisting of tubes and hoses, in which the pumping liquid and / or gaseous refrigerant (see. Accompanying illustration). Set of controls and sensors serve to stabilize the engine idling speed in order to prevent excessive fluctuations in system pressure.

1 - expansion valve
2 - compressor
3 - evaporator
4 - vapor Line
5 - Liquid line
6 - viewing window
7 - Receiver / dryer
8 - capacitor

The refrigerant boils at a very low temperature (- 33 ? C) allows you to oblige to keep it under pressure.

The release of refrigerant can result in frostbite and damage to the eyes, also, mixed with air, the refrigerant forms toxic and flammable gas.

Along with the loss of the refrigerant occurs as the loss of oil from the compressor, and therefore, the presence of either connector refrigerator oil traces lines indicate a leakage of refrigerant.

The drafters of the Guidelines recommend that all work associated with the need to disconnect the refrigerator lines charging system specialists conditioning.

In case of implementation of the general repair of the vehicle associated with the need to make the powertrain engineers made it possible to remove the compressor from the engine without disconnecting the hoses (length latter gives a degree of freedom of movement of the node) and secure it in the engine compartment on the side of the working area (on a mudguard wing).

Checking the coolant level (level of charge)

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Run the engine for a few minutes and turn on the air conditioner to maximum cooling.
  1. Watch for the flow of coolant through the viewing window at the top of the receiver / drier:
  1. With proper functioning of the glass viewing window will remain clear at all times during operation of the compressor.
  2. Cyclical on-off compressor can cause occasional appearance of bubbles, but a continuous bubbling stream indicates the decline in charge of the system.
  3. The intense bubbling and foaming are talking about a very sharp fall in the level of coolant.
  4. The complete absence of bubbles or the presence of oil streaks indicate full discharge system.

At high ambient temperatures small bubbling refrigerant can be observed even when the system is fully charged.

  1. If the system needs to be charged, the car should be driven away in a specialized workshop, which made her evacuation (venting), check for leaks and charging.
  2. To avoid damage to the compressor does not operate the air conditioner when there is evidence of falling levels of refrigerant in the system.

Service

The air conditioning system practically does not need regular maintenance in addition to the following procedures.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. According to the schedule of routine maintenance of the car follow the lubrication system components.
  2. Through viewing window on top of the receiver / drier, periodically check the coolant level. If necessary, charge the system. The need for regular recharging the air conditioning system is normal and should not cause concern.
  3. Periodically state line refrigerated air conditioning system for signs of leaks and external damage. Availability couplings traces of oil is a sign of refrigerant leaks. Perform the necessary repairs.
  4. Periodically check for signs of blocking the drain tube evaporator and condenser coils orifice. In case of need make cleaning.
  5. Regularly check the condition and the tension of the compressor drive belt.
  6. At any time of the year on a regular basis (at least once a week), air conditioning system run for 10 ÷ 15 minutes to lubricate the internal seals.
