Removal and installation of the servo
| - Lift the front of the car and establish on supports.
- Bend the ends of the pins on the hinges of steering rods nuts and remove the side cutter.
- Loosen the nuts of hinges of steering drafts.
- Remove the hinge suitable puller, as has been shown in the
- Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect the hydraulic hose.
- Unscrew the cap nut of the pipeline on the steering mechanism, remove the pipe and collect the leaking liquid into the container.
- Loosen the four screws on the steering mechanism.
- Remove the bottom hinge of a steering shaft from the steering gear.
- Also remove the upper clamping bolt of the universal joint steering to pivot later could take out completely.
- Release the cable harness from the holder on the intermediate frame.
- Completely remove the steering rack mounting bolts and remove the mounting bracket.
- Place a lift and wooden lining under the power unit, lift it up until it is well tightened, unscrew the middle engine carrier and remove it. The rear suspension of the engine should also be removed.
- Now, remove the steering gear. To do this, first slide it to the left, then lower and remove the right side of the car. The steering rods remain on the steering mechanism. Cardan when removing must come out of engagement with the steering gear and the steering column.
- Setting the steering mechanism in the reverse order with regard to the following points:
- Tighten the steering gear with a force 73 - 97 N ??? m.
- Flattening gear to align with the threaded hole of the flange and gently hammer clamping bolt without damaging the threads. Tighten the nut with a force of 25 - 30 N ??? m.
- Tighten both hydraulic lines on the steering mechanism, guided by an illustration. Tighten the low pressure pipe (1) with a force of 20 - 25 N ??? m, high pressure pipe (2) with a force of 15-25 N ??? m.
Two fitting to servo | 1 - low pressure pipe 2 - the high pressure pipe |
- When connecting the two steering rods act like a conventional steering system (see. As an illustration).
- Make sure the steering wheel spokes were properly when the wheels are in the middle position. It may be that the steering gear is rotated by an extra turn.

Steering Repairs As mentioned for steering without power steering, it is not worth repairing. If significant damage makes sense to install the new steering. Individual elements to adjust the belt power steering pump to the carburettor engine | 1 - an adjusting bolt 2 - locknut |
Checking tension V-belt power steering pump The position of the drive belt power steering pump for both versions of the engine shown in the illustration below. Also n. "The belt tension is checked ..." shows the size to which the belts must be forced by clicking on them with your thumb. Location belts on injection engines. Check the tension of the field, indicated by the arrows | 1 - the water pump pulley 2 - a pulley of the pump of the steering amplifier 3 - a pulley of the generator 4 - the crankshaft pulley |
| Location belts on injection engines. Check the tension of the field, indicated by the arrows. |
Like the location, different adjustment straps on the carburetor and injection engines. Both have belt tensioning device that also appear differently. If adjustment is necessary, perform the following work: | - On fuel-injected engine, guided by an illustration, loosen the screw (2) and tighten the adjusting screw (1) until it reaches the desired tension. Then tighten the bolt (2) with a force of 16-22 N ??? m. After adjustment, check the tension indicated on the illustration of the site and compare it with the desired value.
Items to adjust the belt steering pump during a fuel-injected engine | 1 - an adjusting bolt 2 - a lock bolt |
- On the carburettor engine, guided by an illustration, loosen the lock nut (2) on the inside of the tensioner and turn the adjustment screw (1) until it reaches the desired tension. Tighten the nut (2) with a force of 6-9 N ??? m.
- If the V-belt is too loose, the pump is not able to create the necessary pressure for the steering. The result may be a delayed reaction wheels on turns of the steering wheel.

Filling the steering and remove air from the system | - Place the vehicle on a flat surface.
- Warm up the engine.
- Allow the engine to run at a speed of 1000 r / min or less and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock, to increase the temperature of the hydraulic oil.
- Unscrew the expansion tank steering and check that the oil level is between the two marks on the dipstick If the test is carried out on a cold liquid, the oil level is slightly below the rod.
- If necessary, add a liquid (which is used in automatic transmissions), and adjust the level.
- Again screw cap.
- If the system is devastated, it should be removed from the air:
- Replace the front part of the car on supports.
- Two or three times, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock.
- If the fluid level drops, add fluid.
- Check the fluid level in the reservoir as described above.
- Start the engine and leave it idling.
- Two or three times, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock.
- Again, lower the car on wheels.
- Allow the engine to run at a speed of 1000 r / min.
- Several times turn a steering wheel from lock to lock.
- Turn the steering wheel to the center position.
- Remove the expansion tank cap and check the fluid level. Start now the engine and check whether the level rises in the tank. If the level increases more than 5 mm, the operation to remove the air must be repeated, since the system has still air.
- Replace the cover.

Fluid Replacement If the liquid is used for a long time, the pump or the steering gear have been removed or hydraulic oil mixed with air, the liquid should be replaced by: | - Replace the front part of the car on supports.
- Disconnect the return hose from the expansion tank and drain the liquid in the container outstretched.
- Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock, until all the liquid out of the system.
- Fill the system and bleed, as described in the preceding paragraph. Be sure to use with the proper liquid. Usually filled with oil Dexron, but in your heart of Nissan can offer the other.
- Perform a test drive and check that the steering is well responded to the rotation of the steering wheel on the move and on the site.
