Engine compartment from the gearbox

In order to separate the engine from the gearbox, place the assembly of the engine and gearbox on a firm, flat, clean surface is desirable. Securely fix them. If the vehicle is equipped with a transmission with manual switching, do the following:
- Unscrew the screws and nuts that connect the engine block and the box, then be careful - do not damage the part of the clutch mechanism, separate them. Do not tilt the gearbox input shaft is completely separate from the clutch plate;
- If the guides sit so loose, remove them;
- Disassemble as described in the relevant section, the clutch mechanism.
If the car is equipped with an automatic transmission:
- Remove the bolts on the base plate of the pallet gearbox;
- Remove the protective cover at the base of the gearbox;
- Mark, how is the torque converter with respect to the faceplate;
- Unscrew the nuts that the converter is attached to the faceplate; to gain access to each of the nuts turn a cranked shaft of the pulley bolt;
- Unscrew the screws and nuts that connect the engine block and the box, then be careful - do not damage the part of the clutch mechanism, separate them. Make sure that the torque converter does not come loose from the shaft of the box, and after you have separated from the engine box, hold it;
- If the guides sit so loose, remove them.
Connecting the engine and transmission is carried out in reverse order of separating. On a transmission with manual switching during assembly lubricate the splines on the input shaft of the gearbox small amount of refractory greasing. At first, only slightly tighten the engine and box, making sure their concentricity, make sure there are no foreign objects between the gearbox housing and the engine, and only then tighten nuts and bolts to torque. In an automatic transmission use the marks made during removal to ensure proper alignment of the torque converter to the faceplate.
