general information

In this guide vehicles equipped with hydraulic front and rear brakes. The front wheels are equipped with disc brakes ventilated type (with ventilated disks), rear - drum arrangements (all 1993 models and some 1994 GG no.) Or disk, solid-type (with continuous disks) (some models of the 1994 and all GG 1995 vol.). Both front and rear disc brakes are equipped with devices automatically compensate for pad wear, while the drum mechanism is provided with self-adjusting devices actuated braking a moving vehicle in reverse.

Hydraulic system

The hydraulic system is divided into two independent circuits. The master cylinder is equipped with two tanks and in the event of a leak or failure of one of the circuits, the other is still operational. The signal failure of any of the circuits or the ingress of air is the fire of a control lamp, the inclusion of which is carried out by displacement of the piston is part of the combination valve differential pressure switch from the normal "equilibrium" position.

The assembly of the master cylinder with a reservoir

All models use a special, such as ABS, brake master cylinder. ABS unit on the principle of action is very similar to the conventional cylinder: When squeezing the brake pedal push rod connecting the pedal to the brake booster, moving forward. Here, the force applied to the brake pedal, can be increased, and is transmitted to pistons inside the ABS-cylinder, which leads to an increase in hydraulic pressure in the circuits. The main difference between the cylinder of the ABS cylinder is the use of a conventional type, instead of cuffs on his special piston valves.

Because of the uniqueness of its design, the brake master cylinder ABS type can not be repaired, not only at home, but even by the service specialist. In case of failure of the unit must be replaced in the assembly. The main brake cylinder models in 1993 and 1994 Vol. equipped with two filler cap; on cylinder models 1995 Vol. there is only one lid. The blocks are not interchangeable. The only replaceable components of the assembly of the master cylinder is the reservoir, its rubber bushing mounting and connecting hoses.

Combined valve controller

Combined valve mounted on the master cylinder, performs several functions:

As the metering valve (stop), it limits the force exerted by the front brakes as long as the pressure in the front circuit reaches a predetermined value and does not cause the activation of the rear brake mechanisms.

The controller monitors the outlet pressure of the rear brake circuit after the inlet pressure preset value that prevents premature blocking of the rear wheels at high braking loads.

Furthermore, the design of the combination valve allows to maintain the total pressure in one of the circuits in the event of failure of the latter. Included in the valve differential signal switch sensor continuously compares the pressures developed in the front and rear circuits. In case of failure in the system on the instrument panel warning light illuminates red. The lamp continues to remain active as long as the fault is corrected.

Power Brakes

Dvuhdiafragmenny controlled vacuum and mounted on the bulkhead of the engine compartment, brake servo operates using the difference between the pressures in the intake manifold and the environment, providing additional force to the driven hydraulic brakes.

Power amplifiers brake models 1993 and 1994 Vol. equipped with a brake pedal travel sensor system ABS. Since 1995, data are no longer mounted sensors, which explains the difference of certain blocks of the amplifiers that are used in earlier models. It should be remembered that the blocks of different types are not interchangeable.

Parking brake

The parking brake consists of a control lever mounted between the front seats of the car, drive cables connecting the lever to the rear brakes, the device balancing the tension cables of a drive mechanism of each of the rear wheels and brake shoes handbrake. On all models 1993 and 1994 vol., equipped with drum brakes of the rear wheels, the parking brake acts on the proper shoes mechanisms wheels. On models 1994 vol., Equipped with disc brakes and rear wheels all models 1995 Vol. small parking brake shoes placed inside the hub disc rear brake (hub used at the same time as the parking brake drum).

Service

After completion of any of the procedures require disassembly of any of the parts of the braking system before proceeding to operation of the vehicle necessarily produce its sea trials to test the serviceability of functioning of brakes and brake performance. Check the brakes on a clean, dry, flat road surface. Doing so may make the test results unreliable.

Check operation of the brakes at different vehicle speed as in weak and in strong squeezing the brake pedal. Deceleration of the vehicle must be carried out evenly, without jerks and leads him away. Avoid locking the brakes, as the movement leads to skid tread wear and reduces the car's handling.

Factors affecting the braking performance of the car should also include its load, tire condition, and correct alignment of the front wheels.
