Check of serviceability of functioning and replacement universal stalk
| All considered models are equipped with an airbag. Cushion resides in the "heads-up" state and may operate (inflate) at any time at the connected battery. To avoid inadvertent deployment of the air (and result in the injury) each time when carrying out any work on the components of the security system disconnect the negative wire from the battery. After disconnecting the cables from the battery before starting work Wait for at least two minutes (the system is equipped with a condenser, which takes time to discharge). Read more about system security, see. Section Airbag - general information. |
Universal stalk switch is located on the left side of the steering column and is used for the direction indicators, cleaners / washers of a windscreen and headlights flashing head. Check Checklist circuit and the layout of the terminal flasher and alarm | View from the terminal housing. |

| - Remove the steering column switch (see. P. 1).
- Using an ohmmeter, or equipped with a self-powered probe, referring to the end of Chapter presented in diagrams, check the continuity between the terminals marked at different positions of the switch (see. Illustration). If the result does not meet the required conditions, replace the switch.

|
Replacement | - Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
- Remove the top and bottom covers of the column cover and the knee blocker (Chapter Body). Disconnect the electrical connector (which requires a special tool with a secret head of type TORX), then remove the switch from the column.
| - Disconnect the electrical connector (A) Universal stalk, giving to this three-sealed screw (B) and remove the switch.
|
- Install in reverse order.
