Vehicle identification
When buying a car, you get some information cards containing all necessary information about the car: VIN-code numbers of units and assemblies, refer to the options installed with the wishes of the buyer, etc. Further information can be found in the instruction manual. In that case, if the instruction manual is not what happens sometimes when buying a used car, it is advisable to contact an authorized dealer.

You already know about the whereabouts of the nameplate with the designation of the vehicle model, the data on the regulatory permissible total weight, permissible loads on the front and rear axles. Depending on the design of the car plate with these data can be located either in the engine compartment or in the bottom of the driver's seat. In Fig. 1 (top) shows the location of plates in the engine compartment. The engine number is stamped on the engine block on the left side of the high pressure pipe, at the place indicated on the bottom of Fig. 1. When ordering spare parts, refer to full VIN-code and engine number. Gearbox, rear axle, steering have their own serial numbers which are stamped on their packages.
A warning After opening the engine cover, be careful as some parts in the engine compartment may be hot. If the engine is running or the ignition key is in position "2", you should also watch out for the rotating parts of the motor. |
