Removing and installing front propeller shaft



Details of the installation of the front propeller shaft


PERFORMANCE ORDER

Self-locking bolts and shims must be replaced without fail!

  1. Details of the installation of the front propeller shaft shown in the illustration, which includes all the links in the text.
  2. Remove the self-locking bolts (70d) fixing the propeller shaft to the output flange of the transfer box.
  3. Remove the self-locking bolts (70b) fixing the propeller shaft to the drive flange of front differential, remove the shims (70c).
  4. Gently lower the propeller shaft (70) and switch it on and remove it from under the car.
  5. Please rate the degree of deterioration of the constant velocity joint (CV joint) at the forward end of the shaft and the double universal joint in the back, if necessary, replace the shaft assembly.
  6. Installation is in the reverse order - carefully smooth mating surface, track correctness of centering flanges hinge assemblies shaft and transfer case / front differential.
