1. Before you remove and check the operation of the thermostat, make sure that the problems with the cooling of the engine did not occur due to insufficient coolant or weak belt tension. Ensure serviceability indicator located on the dashboard. 2. If you have noticed that the engine is warming up for a long time up to operating temperature (according to the indicator), the thermostat may be stuck in the open position. In this case, the thermostat should be replaced. 3. On the other hand, a long warm-up can be a result of the thermostat. It could do specifically or unintentionally (forgot to set after repair). Do not use the vehicle without a thermostat. The engine management system will keep the engine warm-up mode for a longer time. During this time the engine will consume more fuel, and the exhaust gases will contain a larger amount of harmful impurities. 4. If the engine overheats, touch the upper radiator hose. If it is not hot, and the motor is overheated, the thermostat may be jammed in the closed position. Liquid misses the radiator and circulates in a small circle. In this case, replace the thermostat. 5. If the upper radiator hose hot, it means that the thermostat is open and fluid normally circulates through the system. In this case, refer to the guidelines given in the "Troubleshooting" Introduction. |
