Gasoline engines in cars Golf III were completed eight- / shestnadtsatiklapannymi cylinder head. Camshaft drive via gear belt and pulleys that transmit torque to the crankshaft. On shestnadtsatiklapannom engine cylinder head is equipped with two camshafts, each associated with a different chain drive. A shaft drives the intake valves, the other - the outlet. Inlet camshaft is fixed in the cylinder head five, graduation - six covers sliding bearings. The main components of various modifications of the engine cylinder heads, mounted on cars Golf III, shown in Fig. 2.3, 2.4, 2.5.
