Regardless of whether or not detached from the vehicle engine, it is assumed that neither the cylinder head, the flywheel, the pan and the slinger, oil pump and the oil receiver. Before removing the piston inspect the upper part of the cylinder bore. If the place where the piston reaches TDC, there is a substantial crest wear, scuffing, etc.., They must be removed or the piston or rings can be damaged during removal. Write the number on the bottom of each piston, to distinguish them from each other afterwards. Removing / analysis of connecting rod and piston (Fig. 2.20) is carried out in the following order: - With feeler gauges, measure each rod gap between the bottom head of a rod and crank cheeks, compare with those given in the Table. 2.8; - If by design, remove the fixing screws 11 and the nozzle 10 of the piston cooling holes in which they are installed. On engines 2E and ABF with a nozzle attached and pressure relief valve - Be careful not to damage it when removing; - Rotate the crankshaft so that the piston of the first cylinder moved to the BDC. If the connecting rod bearing caps are not labels, apply them to comply subsequently completely correct orientation of the connecting rods and their caps; - Remove the bolts / nuts of bearing caps, making half a turn at a time, until you can unscrew them by hand. Remove the lower bearing shells and attach it to the cover with adhesive tape for storage. Although re-use liners are not recommended, but if they are used again, they should be installed on the old place; - If the fixing bolts of covers of rods are not extracted, bolt threads should be covered with insulating tape to prevent scratching of the crank pins when removing the pistons of the cylinders; - Carefully remove the pistons from the top of the cylinder, pushing the back of the head on the piston pin or hammer handle. When the piston and connecting rod will come out, remove the upper bearing and attach the adhesive tape to the connecting rod storage; - Rotate the crankshaft by a half turn in the same way and remove the pistons and connecting rods of the second and third; - Using a suitable screwdriver, remove the retaining ring piston pin of each piston, then, pushing the piston pin, disconnect the piston and connecting rod. Reuse of circlips is not allowed. If you can not remove your finger, heat the piston in the hot water.
