Main Headlights with gas discharge lamps

NOTE
Before working on the headlights with gas discharge lamps need to turn them off and bring the key to position 0 (pre-emphasis).
Automatic correction of headlights and the adaptive light headlights with gas discharge lamps are equipped with self-diagnosis function.
During repair work is necessary to know how the system works and how to lighting control.

general description
The main headlamps with gas-discharge lamps, and Adaptive Lighting AFS (Adaptive Frontlighting System) have the function "biksenon."
Discharge lamps in conventional "Xenon" headlights emit only a passing light. "Bixenon" allows to emit "a" discharge lamp and the near and distant light. To do this, electromechanical controls (shutter for the left beam and the flap for the right low beam) when the main beam opens the closed section beam, and include the distribution beam.
For this reason, "the bi-xenon 'headlights with dipped beam is automatically adjusted and far.
The main headlamps with gas-discharge lamps and adaptive lighting "additional high beam" is missing.
Adaptive light includes the following functions:
- Rotary and dipped beam (Dynamic Adaptive Lighting) at vehicle speeds above 10 km / h and the steering angle of the front wheels light adaptive (static adaptive lighting) in tight turns (turn radius <500 m) or turn and speeds of up to 50 km / h.

Fault detection and fault indication
Automatic correction of headlights, adaptive lighting and the control unit are equipped with on-board power supply self-diagnosis function, which facilitates troubleshooting headlamps with gas-discharge lamps, adaptive lighting.
To troubleshoot, use one of those described in the chapter "Automotive Diagnostic and systems of" testers in the mode ?Gefuehrte Fehlersuche / Guided Fault Finding".

NOTE
When a fault-leveling and adaptive lighting AFS (Adaptive Frontlighting System) in the dash warning light ?Lampenausfall / Lamp Failure".
