1. Turn off the ignition. |
2. Disconnect the earth cable (-) from the battery. |
A warning After disconnecting the battery erased the memory of the radio and the electronic control units. If the radio is coded, before disconnecting the battery remember radio code. Without the code, after connecting the battery, the radio will not operate.

3. If present, disconnect the air hose back on the generator. |
| 4. Remove the protective cover, disconnect the thick wire (B) and fine (D) (see. Fig. Connection diagram of the generator) of the terminals (1) and (2). |
5. The 4-cylinder petrol engine: loosen the screws from the arm of the generator. To do this, insert a 6 mm key for hexagon socket head screws in the front, in the hole fencing gear belt and remove the screws. |
6. 5-cylinder and 4-cylinder diesel engine: loosen the screws on the bracket of the generator. |
7. Loosen and remove the V-belt. |
Machines with a toothed belt wedge |
| 8. The belt drive with tensioning roller: lift the tensioning pulley with a lever or a 3299 VW mount, loosen the wedge toothed belt and remove from belt pulley the generator. |
| 9. Belt drive without tension roller: click on the generator down with a lever VW-3297 or the mount, loosen the wedge toothed belt and remove from belt pulley the generator. |
A warning Screws bracket (1, 2) should be diluted at least 1 turn.

10. Remove the screws of the generator bracket and remove the generator. |
