Changing the oil and oil filter
The oil and oil filter is replaced in accordance with the timetable set out in the program of maintenance and warranty repair Volvo. Change intervals indicated any mileage or a certain time interval, whichever comes first. Drain plug is located at the rear of the engine sump. Drain the oil while it is warm.
A WARNING Simultaneously with the change of engine oil, replace the oil filter. |
Remove the shield under the engine, if necessary, then remove the old filter. Install the new filter in accordance with the instructions given on the filter (you need a special tool). If you are changing your own oil, remember that the used oil and filter are not allowed to throw away, polluting the environment.
A WARNING The oil can be very hot. When changing the oil, remember that after prolonged and repeated contact with the skin engine oil may cause serious skin diseases. |
Drain the engine oil and replace the oil filter as follows: 1) Drain the engine oil, for which: - Remove the drain plug; - Replace the copper washer; - Put the drain plug and tighten to 35 Nm;

- Remove the bottom mudguard; - Remove the oil filter (for removal of the oil filter using tool 999-5458 specification firm Volvo); - Lubricate the O-ring of the new oil filter; - Put the new filter and tighten by hand; - See below. Instructions to the filter.

For petrol engines need to apply oil conforming to the ACEA A1, you can also use ACEA A3 (Fig. 2.52). Note that the same oil can comply with both ACEA A1 and ACEA B1, regardless of whether the oil is mineral, semi-synthetic or fully synthetic oil. In extreme conditions for all petrol engines with turbo or non-turbo, use only oil ACEA A3. In the absence of the level of oil quality ACEA oil may be used, meet the requirements of API SH or SJ.
NOTE Under no circumstances should not be used additive (additive) to oils. |
NOTE Oils with viscosity 0W-30 and 0W-40 must fulfill the requirements of ACEA A3 (petrol engines). |
When changing the oil and check the condition of the crankcase ventilation system and flame arrestor as follows:

1) Remove the crankcase ventilation hoses and flash suppressor (Fig. 2.53), as follows: - Remove the oil filler cap; - Disconnect the two hoses from the flame arrester and the flame arrester to remove the case from the intake air hose; - Turn the lower housing (bayonet) and remove the flame arrestor; - Check the technical condition and, if necessary, replace the flame arrestor; - Clean and, if necessary, put a new flash suppressor, and the O-ring; - Blow all the compressed air hose.
NOTE In a thin hose has a stop. |
Installation is performed in reverse order, which requires the use of the new hose clamps.

2) remove the hose from the oil separator to the cylinder head, which (Fig. 2.54): - Remove the cylinder head cover to the engine; - Disconnect the hose from the cylinder head and remove it; - Clean and blow out the hose and connectors; - Lubricate with petroleum jelly and insert the hose between the cylinder head and the arm, turning 180 degrees. - Attach a new clamp (if necessary, remove the plug); - Put the oil filler cap; - Install the cylinder head cover.
