Check and adjust wheel alignment

For proper wheel alignment vehicle must be unloaded, and the tire pressure has been brought to the norm (the amount of fuel in the tank does not affect the result of the measurement).
Wheel alignment should be done with great care, since the impact on the car's handling and steering wheel position.
Prior to the measurements necessary to ensure that no backlash:
- Wheel bearing;
- In the upper shock absorber;
- In rubber bushings of the trailing arm.
If any of these elements are loose, it must be corrected before the measurements and adjustments.

Installation of the measuring equipment
Fig. 8.3. Installation of the measuring equipment

Angle measurement performed using special equipment (Fig. 8.3). At the same time set the wheels moving disks to be used in measuring the lateral movement.
To obtain a reliable measurement result must be the collapse of the car to be mounted horizontally. It is several times to force the car to swing up and down after the wheels on the moving wheels. This is necessary to ensure that the suspension took its normal position.
Camber should be -40 '? 30'. The values of the collapse of the left and right wheels must not differ.
To adjust the collapse:

Location alignment adjustment screws (1) and collapse (2) of the rear wheels

- Loosen the nut of the screw 1 (Fig. 8.4), and alignment adjustment, turning, release it. Releasing the screw adjustment of convergence is important because it affects the collapse;

The controls camber

- Loosen the nut (Fig. 8.5) and turn the adjusting screw until the correct value of the collapse;
- Tighten the nut to 80 Nm.

Methods for determining the toe
Fig. 8.6. Methods for determining the toe

Toe should be checked and adjusted only convinced of the correctness of the collapse of the installation. Convergence can be defined in two ways (Fig. 8.6):
- Measuring the angle of hub; it should be 9 '? 6' on each wheel;
- Measuring the difference in distance between the front and rear edges of the wheels at A-A, B-B and C-C. Nominal value convergence: In a = 1-5 mm; B = at 0.8-4 m; C c = 0.7-3.5 mm. The convergence of the left and right wheels can differ.
To adjust the toe:
- Loosen the nut of the screw 1 (Fig. 8.4);
- Tighten the nut to 80 Nm and re-check the toe.
