Accumulator battery
Battery - a device for storing energy in chemical form which can then be used as electricity. Rechargeable battery operated because two different metals, being in an acid solution, a potential difference, whereby the electric current. - On cars set free batteries.
- The battery is not required to refill the distilled water.
- The battery is completely sealed except for the small ventilation holes in the lid.
Inspection of battery | - Turn the ignition and all consumers of electricity.
- Disconnect the battery. Negative wire must be disconnected first, and connect the last.
- Remove the battery from the vehicle.
| If the case has been damaged the battery, remove the battery rubber gloves to protect your skin from the electrolyte. |
| - Check fasteners batteries, as they may be damaged by hitting on their electrolyte. If necessary, clean them with warm soda solution.
|
- In the same solution, clean the top of the battery.
- Inspect battery for cracks. If there are cracks, replace the battery.
- Clean the battery terminals.
- Clean the inner surface of the clamp wires connected to the battery terminals.
- Install the battery in the car.
- . Connect the wires to the battery terminals.
- Tighten the mounting clips of wires to the terminals of the battery.
- Coat the battery terminals a thin layer of petroleum jelly.

| When charging batteries, an explosive gas mixture is released. When working with cables and electrical devices is forbidden the use of fire, sparking devices open by fire-dangerous light devices and smoking. Avoid sparking when handling cables and electrical devices. Never short the battery terminals directly - there is a great risk of injury due to heavy arcing. |
Test Battery Check the specific gravity of the electrolyte Specific gravity of the battery electrolyte varies with temperature. Increasing temperature leads to a decrease of the specific weight and vice versa. The proportion of the electrolyte fully charged battery should be between 1,260 and 1,280 at a temperature of 26,7 ? C. Adjustment of specific gravity should be carried out by the addition of 0.04 points for each above 5,56 ? C temperature of 26,7 ? C or subtracting 0.04 points for every 5,56 ? C below the temperature of 26,7 ? C. For example: Indications hydrometer - 1,280 at a temperature of 5.56 ? C. In accordance with the difference in temperature, adjust the specific gravity of 0.028 points. The true specific gravity of 1.252. 1,280-0,028 = 1,252 Do not measure the specific gravity of the electrolyte immediately after topping up with distilled water. | The difference in the specific gravity of the electrolyte 50 or more points between the banks of the battery indicates that the battery is faulty and should be replaced. |
Charging the battery Specific gravity | Charging Method | Slow charging (5A) | Fast charging (20A) | Less than 1,000 | 14 h | 4 hours | 1,000-1,300 | 12 h | 3 hours | 1,300-1,600 | 10 hours | 2.5 hours | 1,600-1,900 | 8 hours | 2.0 hours | 1,900-1,220 | 6 hours | 1.5 hours | More than 1,220 | 4 hours | 1.0 hours |
