An order of dismantling of the engine
The easiest way to disassemble the engine mounting on a portable stand. This stand is usually cheap to rent a car service workshop or a special point of hire. Before you install the engine on the stand it is necessary to remove a flywheel / drive plate. If there is no opportunity to use a stand, you can disassemble the engine after installing it on wooden blocks on the floor of the working area. Be extremely careful not to knock over the motor on the floor during a showdown. If you decide to purchase and install a rebuilt engine, you first need to remove the old with all the ancillaries and accessories - they should then be transferred to the new unit - as if you were going to proceed with the overhaul of the old engine. These include: - Generator with brackets
- Components of reducing emissions
- The distributor, spark plug wires, and spark plugs
- Thermostat and housing cover
- Water pump
- The components of the fuel injection system
- Intake manifold and exhaust manifold (s)
- Oil filter
- Engine Supports
- Assembling the clutch and flywheel / drive plate
| When removing from the engine of hinged units and external components, pay close attention to the details of the installation, which can be useful and important when you transfer them to a new / rebuilt unit. Memorize installation position gaskets, seals, spacer sleeves, pins, brackets, washers, bolts and other small parts. |
If you want to install speed dialing unit (see. Section Possible recovery of the engine), then with the old engine should be lifted head (s) of cylinders, the oil pan and oil pump. If you plan to conduct a complete overhaul, the engine must be dismantled and removed from it all internal components. Adhere to the following order of removal of the internal components of the engine: - The cover (s) of the head (s) of the cylinders
- Intake manifold and exhaust manifold (s)
- Rocker arms and pushrods
- Hydraulic valve lifters
- Head (s) of the cylinders
- Timing cover (chain)
- Distribution chain with asterisks
- Camshaft
- Sump
- Oil pump
- Connecting rod and piston groups
- Crankshaft and main bearings
Before starting disassembly of the engine and the implementation procedures for its overhaul to make sure that the following components (see. As the instruments listed in Section How to assemble the engine after completing its overhaul): - A standard set of plumbing tools
- Set small cardboard or plastic boxes for storage components
- Gasket scraper
- Countersink to remove the top of the step wear cylinders
