Engine lubrication is carried out under pressure. The oil pump draws oil from the oil pan through a strainer and delivers it under pressure through a fine filter oil. The oil pump has a relief valve that maintains the pressure at one level in the engine lubrication system. If the pressure in the lubrication system of the engine rises above a certain level, the bypass valve opens and a portion of the oil flows back to the sump. Passing through the oil filter, the purified oil enters the main oil highway. The oil line oil pressure sensor, which, including the control lamp in the instrument cluster indicates low oil pressure. The oil filter has a valve, which in the case of heavy contamination of the oil filter bypass crude oil directly into the oil pipe. From the main highway through the channels the pressurized oil supplied to lubricate the crankshaft bearing and through the channels in the crankshaft to the connecting rod bearings. For piston cooling oil is sprayed through nozzles at the bottom of the piston. On channels oil supplied to the cylinder head for the lubrication of bearings of camshafts and hydraulic tappets.
Oil consumption Oil consumption - is the amount of oil required for the combustion of fuel-air mixture. To the category of oil consumption does not include the loss of oil due to leaks are engine lubrication. Oil consumption also defines the high temperatures and pressures present during engine operation. On the oil flow is also affected by use of the vehicle and driving habits. The maximum oil flow - is 1 liter per 1000 km of running a car. A warning Do not fill up the engine oil marks on the dipstick max since otherwise unburnt oil may enter the exhaust system and damage the catalyst.
