If the engine does not start and the starter does not work

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If a model with an automatic transmission, make sure the shift lever is in position P or N.
2. Open the hood and make sure the battery terminals are clean and energized.
3. Turn on the headlights and try to start the engine. If the lights dim when you try to start the engine, it is likely you have a low battery. In this case, try to start the engine from an external source.
