Repair wire CAN bus

As wire CAN bus uses two-wire line 1 and 2 with a cross section of 0.35 mm 2 or 0.5 mm 2.
Color-coded wire CAN bus found in the following table
Wire tires CAN-High, privodoranzhevy / black;
Wire tires CAN-High, komfortoranzhevy / green;
Wire tires CAN-High, Infotainment orange / purple;
Wire CAN-Low (all) orange / brown.
CAN bus wire repairs must be carried out using both the maintenance of a suitable cross-section wires and twisted wires "green / yellow" or "white / yellow" according to parts catalog.
When repairing tires have two wires have the same length. When twisting the wires 1 and 2, the length of the coil should be at A = 20 mm.
It does not have to be formed piece of wire, for example, in welded contacts is longer than B = 50 mm without twisting the wires.
Wrap the renovated section of the yellow tape to signify that this spot was repaired.

Replacing the antenna wire
To repair the wire antenna developed a new concept of repair. As spare parts, instead of the wire antenna, as a whole, are now being offered the connecting wires of different lengths, as well as a variety of adapter cables.

general description
The antenna wires are not repairable. If repairs are needed, they should be replaced by the connection cables and adapter cables offered as original spare parts.
These original spare parts are suitable for the replacement of all antenna wires of any section.
Connector housing for antenna cables are available as spare parts in only one color, but can be used to replace the antenna plug of any color.
Replacing the separate antenna connectors in case of repair are not available.
These wires can be used in all VW models with antenna wires of any section.
All connecting cables and adapter cable are suitable for any received and transmitted signals.
This repair concept can also be used for testing and additional equipment.

Overview of mounting the antenna wire
Example: damaged antenna wire from the radio to the antenna. For repair, the following wires:
1 - adapter cable to connect to the radio. Length about 30 cm.
2 - connecting cable supplied in various lengths.
3 - adapter cable to connect the antenna. Length about 30 cm.

Installation of the new antenna wire
Unplug the antenna wire from the damaged instrument.

NOTE
Remember that, depending on the car's overall length of the antenna wire from the control units for the selection of antennas, radio control units or antenna amplifiers can be divided into segments. In each case, you need to replace only the damaged section.

Locate the damaged antenna wire laid in the car and measure the total length of the damaged antenna wire.

Carry out the necessary repairs to the antenna wire
Fig. 7.127. Carry out the necessary repairs to the antenna wire

The total length of the antenna wire is made up of the length of the necessary adapter cables 1 and 3, as well as the length of the bonding wire 2 (Fig. 7.127).
Subtract from the measured total length of the antenna wire 60 cm to determine the length of the necessary connecting cables 2.
Acquire the necessary adapter cables 13 and connecting wires 2 correct length according to the catalog of spare parts.
Cut the damaged antenna wire connectors.
The balance of the damaged antenna wire remains in the vehicle.
Connect the adapter cables 1 and 3 to the devices of the car.
Lay and fix the connecting cable 2 right next to the "serial" cable.

NOTE
Antenna wires can not go too much and is breaking. The bending radius must be at least 50 mm.

Connect the wire with the adapter cable.
Spend check.

Repair wire up to 0.35 m m 2
When repairing wires with a cross section 0.35 mm 2 must be necessarily Press on new terminals Crimp tool for contacts JPT, or crimping tool (without head) VAS 1978/12, established a replaceable head for contacts JPT - VAS 1978 / 91. Because of the small values of current in these conductors in micro - and millidiapazone incorrectly crimped contacts lead to a transition resistance and cause malfunction or failure of any system. Most often these contacts occur in the following devices:
- Lambda probe;
- Speed sensor;
- Air mass meter.
Through the use of crimping pliers for contacts JPT or crimping pliers (without head) with the replaceable head for contacts JPT ensure proper connection between the crimp, wire and wire seal (Seal). Use the tool only for its intended purpose.

NOTE
On the wires are pressed repair standard or gold-plated terminals. When repairing, always use a tip that was used originally.

Pressure testing of the new tip seal with wire
Insert a removable head for JPT contacts in crimping pliers (base handles).

Installing seal
Fig. 7.128. Installing seal

Push the wire seal on the repair wire (Fig. 7.128).

NOTE
The smaller diameter of the seal when this should be on the side of the tip.

Installing wires crimping pliers
Fig. 7.129. Installing wires crimping pliers

Open crimping pliers and insert the end of the repair wire into the hole for stripping (Fig. 7.129).
Fully tighten the clamp.
Again, open clamp and remove the stripped wire.
Slide the seal wire toward the stripped end, that it ends flush with the insulated wire.
Insert the new tip into the crimp jaws crimp pliers.

Installing wires in crimp cap
Fig. 7.130. Installing wires in crimp cap

Insert the stripped end of the wire in the crimp seal aligned tip to the end adjoined to mark ?Wire-Stop? (Fig. 7.130).
Pressure test cap, wire and seal completely squeezing the crimping pliers.
Again, open clamp and remove the finished tip.

Example of correct crimping wires
Fig. 7.131. Example of correct crimping wires

Correctly executed crimping different net wires and crimp seal at the tip, and on its reverse side there chasing, which means that the pressure testing has been carried out professionally and with the proper tool (Fig. 7.131).

Broken wire in one place
Place repairs one crimp sleeve
Release the wire, which must be repaired (about 20 cm on both sides of the repair).
If necessary, remove the coil harness folding knife.
Vyrezhte damaged section of wire stripping pliers.

NOTE
If both of the remaining end of the wire due to the cutting of the damaged segment will be too short to repair one crimp sleeve, you should use a piece of wire the appropriate length by setting the two crimp sleeves.

Wire Stripper
Fig. 7.132. Wire Stripper

Strip 6-7 mm of insulation from the ends of the wire with pliers for stripping (Fig. 7.132).

Crimping the crimp sleeve
Fig. 7.133. Crimping the crimp sleeve

Push crimp sleeve to both the stripped end of the wire and crimp it with the crimping tool (Fig. 7.133).

NOTE
Be sure to use an appropriate tip for used crimp sleeve.

Wire insulation pressure test is impossible.
After crimping crimp sleeve need to sit down, to prevent moisture ingress into.
Fit the extension of the industrial hair dryer, 220 V / 50 Hz.

Warming crimp sleeve
Fig. 7.134. Warming crimp sleeve

Heat crimp sleeve hairdryer in the longitudinal direction from the middle to the edges until it is fully compressed and the glue on the end of the projection (Fig. 7.134).

ATTENTION
When shrinkage crimp connections ensure that the nozzle of the hair dryer hot not to damage other wires, plastic parts or insulation.
Observe the manual dryer

NOTE
If necessary, repair the wiring, observe several specific distance between crimping sleeves. to girth harness has not appeared after repair too thick crimp sleeve set with some displacement relative to each other.
If the place was renovated originally it wrapped in duct tape, then renovated it should wrap yellow tape.
Renovated after the harness should, if necessary, fix the clamp to tie the wires to avoid extraneous sounds while driving.
