Check of the current generated by the generator

This check is to determine whether the generator generates a current which is equivalent to the nominal capacity.

Preparing for inspection

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Before the test, check the following items:
    1) The state established in the car battery;
    2) belt tension generator.

The battery, which is used to check the current produced by the generator must be partially discharged. When fully charged the battery test can not be performed due to insufficient load generator.

  1. Switch off the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  3. Disconnect the wire from the plug ?B? generator.

Connect the wires and the ammeter probes are very reliable, since the chain will flow a large current.

  1. Connect the DC ammeter to measure the limit of 0-100 A in series between the plug ?B? and disconnected from the alternator wire. Make sure that the negative probe of the ammeter connected to the generator disconnected from the wire.
  2. Connect a voltmeter (0-20) between the plug ?B? of the generator and "weight". Make sure that the positive probe of the voltmeter connected to the plug ?B? generator.
  3. Connect the tachometer wire to the negative terminal of the battery.
  4. Leave the hood open.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check that the scale is clearly visible voltmeter to determine the voltage. If the voltmeter shows voltage of 0V, then do not complete an electrical circuit connecting the terminal ?B? of the generator and the battery negative terminal, burned fuse or bad connection with "weight".
  2. Start the engine and turn on the lights.
  3. Turn on the main beam headlights and the heater fan at maximum air supply. Briefly increase the speed of the crankshaft of the engine to 2500 min-1 and the value read on the devices, while an ammeter shows the current produced by the generator.

After engine start battery charging current decreases very rapidly, so this test should be performed very quickly.

Result of checking

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. The ammeter reading should exceed the limit value. If the current value is less than the limit value, and a wire connecting the output of the generator, in order, remove the generator from the car and check it out. The current limit: 63.0 A generator 90 A.
  1. The current limit specified on the label attached to the body of the generator.
  2. Electricity produced by the generator depends on the temperature and the load. Therefore, to limit discharge current battery upon enabling lights on the car with engine inoperative.
The limiting value of current generated by the generator can not be obtained if the temperature of the generator or the ambient air is too high.
  1. After completion of the test limit current produced by the generator, turn the engine to idle and turn the ignition off.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  3. Remove the tachometer, voltmeter and ammeter.
  4. Attach the wire to the terminal ?B? generator.
  5. Attach the wire to the negative terminal of the battery.
