Check and replacement of hoses passing under the hood (every 4800 km (3000 miles) or once every 3 months)
| Hoses as belts tend to fail at the most inopportune moment - in order to avoid the hassles associated with unanticipated delays in transit, produce inspection of the hose as carefully as possible, using the map shown here the most common problems. |
Overview | Replacing the air conditioning system hoses should be left to those skilled dealer branch or a specialized workshop Car having at their disposal the equipment necessary for the safe discharge system. In no case do not remove any components or remove hoses prior to the collapse. |
High temperatures in the engine compartment may cause the destruction of the material of rubber and plastic hoses used in the engine, auxiliary units and systems for reducing emissions. Hoses should be checked regularly for cracks, signs of easing of collars, hardening material, and any signs of leaks. Information on checking the status of the cooling system hoses, refer to Section Check of cooling system (every 4800 km (3000 miles) or once every 3 months). Some, but not all hoses are attached to the fittings with clamps. Where the clamps are applied, check the reliability of their tightening, which depends on the prevention of leaks. If clamps are not used, make sure that the hose is not proved to be advanced and / or solidified to wear to the nipple area, which is usually the cause of the leak. Vacuum hoses To identify the vacuum hoses, especially used in systems reduce emissions characterized by the use of the color code or the introduction of their walls colored stripes. Different systems require the use of vacuum tubes of varying wall thickness, which depends on the resistance of a collapse under the influence of internal pressure and to elevated temperatures. When replacing vacuum hoses watch over the compliance of the material and the construction of new removed from the engine. Often, the only effective way to check the status of the vacuum hose is complete removal of it from the car. If you remove the subject of more than one hose, take care of the pre-clear their labeling with a view to properly install the assembly. Check the condition of the vacuum hoses do not forget also about the plastic tee. Check them for cracks or deformation plots on which the hose is stretched, can cause loss of vacuum as a result of leakage of the joint. To identify the "leakage" of vacuum, use a stethoscope, or - as such - a segment of the vacuum or the fuel hose (inner diameter of about 6 mm). Listen with a stethoscope hoses (across the length) and couplings for any hiss, which is a characteristic feature of "diversion". | When listening to a stethoscope vacuum hoses, take care not to touch the moving components of the engine compartment, such as a belt, fan blades, etc. |
Fuel hoses | There are special precautions to be taken during the service components of the power system. Work should be done in a well-ventilated area. Approaching the place of work with a lit cigarette, naked flames or unprotected moving the shade is strictly prohibited. Accidentally spilled fuel should be immediately collected using cloth or paper towels, which should then be folded out of the reach of fire or heat source place. On injection models the fuel injection system is under pressure, which must be reset (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust system) before you can begin disconnecting fuel lines. |
Check the rubber fuel lines for signs of rubbing or material aging. Particularly check hoses for cracks in the bend and on sections immediately before fittings (such as the fuel filter). High fuel lines are usually labeled inscription Fluroelastomer, printed directly on the wall of the hose and must be applied for a replacement product. Under no circumstances should you try to set in place the fuel lines do not have the required strength vacuum or water hoses, or transparent plastic tube. To secure the fuel lines on the fittings are commonly used spring-type clamps. Such clamps often lose strength over time, and for removing unexpected tend to become detached. It is reasonable to be in the replacement hose clamps to replace this kind of more robust screw (screw) type. Metal lines The power supply system is often used metal lines. Carefully inspect for bends, deformation and cracking. If a section of the metal lines to be replaced should be used to perform it only produced by the seamless steel pipe technology as copper and aluminum do not provide the strength required to withstand the occurring during normal operation of the engine vibration loads. Check metal brake lines in the places of their connection to the master cylinder and the pressure equalization unit (if applicable) for cracks or signs of abating compression fittings. Detect any signs of leaks in the brake lines require immediate scrutiny entire brake system.
