- When the engine is cold (after at least three hours after completion of travel) fully inspect the exhaust system from the exhaust manifold to the exhaust outlet. Avoid touching exposed parts of the body to the catalytic converter, which can be very hot, and three hours after stopping the engine. To ensure easy access to the components of the exhaust system should be checked on the winch on the raised or installed on a platform / backup car.
- Check the exhaust pipes and nodes joining sections of the system for signs of exhaust gas leaks and / or corrosion, is a sign of the approaching release of components of the system. Make sure that all the brackets and hangers systems are in satisfactory condition and are properly secured.
- Inspect the underside of the vehicle for holes, corrosion, dispersed seams and the other defects, which may occur due to the penetration of exhaust gases into the interior of the vehicle. Seal all holes with silicone or body filler.
- The resulting movement of the car crash and other noises can often be the result of a failure of the components of the exhaust system, in particular its brackets, supports, hangers and fasteners thermoprotective weakening the screens. Try to move the pipe, muffler and catalytic converter. If any of the components are brought into contact with the elements of the suspension or the body of the car, fasten them with new hangers and brackets.
| - Check the rubber component supports and hangers of the exhaust system for signs of damage.
