Self-diagnosis The ECM constantly monitors the input and output signals and other signals under certain conditions. When a fault is detected, the ECM records DTC in memory and provides the output code to the diagnostic socket. Diagnostic codes can be read by a scanner. Diagnostic codes remain in the memory before disconnecting the wires from the battery terminals, or by disconnecting the ECM, as well as to erase them with a scanner. | If the battery voltage is low, can not be read DTCs. Before reading the code, make sure the battery is charged. When disconnecting the wires from the battery terminals and connectors from the engine control unit erased from memory, recorded it DTCs. Before removing or replacing any element of the system is considered fault codes, and then unplug the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. |
| 1. Turn off the ignition. 2. Connect the scanner to the diagnostic connector. 3. Turn on the ignition. 4. Using the scanner, check the stored fault codes. 5. Eliminate the malfunction. 6. Clear the DTC. | 7. Remove the scanner. |
