The coolant temperature sensor (ECT)

The coolant temperature sensor is installed in the cylinder head and controls the coolant temperature signal and transmits the engine control unit ECM. The thermistor is used as a sensor which is sensitive to temperature changes. Electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases with increasing temperature. On cold engine ECM operates in open loop mode, whereby in the cylinder chamber is fed a richer air-fuel mixture and increases the idle speed. This continues until the motor has reached its normal operating temperature.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove the sensor from the engine.

2. heating the vessel with water and placed it in tow, check its resistance.
Temperature
Resistance
0 ? C
5.9 kilohms
20 ? C
2.5 kilohms
40 ? C
1.1 kilohms
80 ? C
0.3 kilohms

3. If the sensor resistance is not correct, replace the sensor.

If you increase the idle speed of the engine cold enough or warming up the engine exhaust gases have a dark color, the reason for this may be a temperature sensor coolant.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Apply sealant to the threads of the sensor LOCTITE 962T or equivalent.
2. Screw the sensor into the engine block and tighten its moment given in the specification.

Torque: 20-40 N ??? m

3. Connect the sensor connector.
