Starter
On cars Mercedes-Benz Sprinter set starter with forced on and off gears. When starting the engine starter motor operates as follows: - When you turn the ignition key to the "start" via terminal "50" ignition voltage on the red wire is fed to the magnetic switch, located at the top of the starter; - Plug incorporating moves pinion gear engages with the flywheel; - Gear engages, then the traction relay through the main contact brings the total current from the battery (through a withdrawal of "30"). The gear rotates the ring gear and transmits the force - the starter turns the motor shaft; - When the engine is started up, and the starter switch on the ignition switch is released, the magnetic field in the winding of the traction relay is interrupted and given to enable the plug spring return to its original position. The gear is disengaged and the voltage supply to the starter motor is stopped. Faulty starter motor can be determined by the following features. When the starter at the location of the unit heard the clicks, the starter motor a little scroll with a crunch or not rotating. Engage first gear and hold the key in the ignition in the "start", while the assistant will push or shake the car. If the starter is working, then it brushes are worn, or is the closure in the armature winding, or wear sewer. It happens that after a long trip is hot starter refuses to work. This effect is the result not quite favorable mutual position of the armature shaft and gears. With strong heating of the parts jammed in each other, magnetic switch can not move the gear, resulting in electrical contact it is not closed. Sometimes it helps to hit with a hammer on the side of the starter at the same time the assistant should translate the ignition switch to "start".
