The routine maintenance schedule

Offered recommendations assume independent performance of procedures of service of the car by its owner unlike the works carried out by a workshop executive branch of the company Mercedes-Benz. While this chart is based on the recommendations of the manufacturer, the interval between the majority of procedures, at the discretion of the owner of the car can be reduced, for example, inspection and replacement of lubricants and fluids should be made at intervals providing the maximum service life of the engine or drive. In addition, if the owner is interested in the car to keep it in a state of maximum readiness for operation in case of a possible resale, many procedures can be performed more frequently. The drafters of this Rukoodstva can only welcome this initiative.

Initial service and check of the new car should be carried out by a workshop executive branch of the company Mercedes-Benz to meet the conditions of the warranty. This service is provided free of charge.

The checks made on a regular basis

Annually

Every 2 years

  • Replace the brake fluid (see. Section Replacing brake fluid).
  • Check the condition of the paintwork.
  • Check the condition of the chassis components, carrying and bearing body elements.

Every 3 years

After the first 48 000 km or 4 years of operation (once) - only diesel models

Every 96,000 km or every 4 years

Every 160,000 km or every 4 years

  • Replace the spark plugs on petrol models.

The procedures performed in accordance with the standard list of activities of maintenance (in accordance with the display system ASSYST)

List A: The procedure is performed if the mileage since the last service in the list is less than 22 000 km.

List B: The procedure is performed if the mileage since the last service in the list of more than 22 000 km.

Initial service performed in the list (the full amount of work)!

Be careful, take all necessary precautions when servicing any of the system components, including not only the main (ignition module, coil and BB wiring), but also related, such as a spark plug connector, tachometer and other connectable diagnostic equipment. Particular care should be observed when the engine is running at the time of its launch, with the ignition (key in position 2) and cranking manually. People with implanted pacemakers have access to the service components of the ignition system must not!
