Replacing valve stem seals
Spark plug 1. Electrode weight 2. The ceramic insulator 3. The center electrode | 4. glass 5. Connecting the finger |
The reason for increased oil consumption can be wear stem seals. Valve stem seals can be removed and installed in the cylinder head, but this requires a special tool VW-2036 with the VW541 / 1 or HAZET 2577-2, and for gasoline engines - the compressed air. A warning Describes the removal of the petrol engine. In the case of a diesel engine, compressed air is not needed, but then the piston of the corresponding cylinder should be in the TDC. Set the engine to TDC for cylinder 1 (see. Subsection 2.5.2.1). Withdrawal
PERFORMANCE ORDER | 1. Remove the camshaft and bucket tappets (see. Subsection 2.7). | 2. The piston of the corresponding cylinder set at BDC (bottom dead center). To do this, turn the Allen key for the crankshaft pulley so that the notch on the belt pulley has coincided with the corresponding label fences toothed belt (1 cylinder now stands at TDC). At this time, the cylinders 2 and 3 are at BDC. Mark crankshaft pulley bottom chalk, and then turn the pulley another 1/2 turn (180 ?), while the chalk mark coincides with the corresponding label. Now the cylinders 1 and 4 are in the BDC. | 3. Remove all spark plugs. | 4. Wrap the right cylinder, instead of candles adapter VW 653/3 or HAZET 3428 and connect the hose with compressed air. | 5. If you do not have special tools to make the adapter from the old spark plugs. To do this, bite the electrode weight (1) with a screwdriver to break the ceramic insulator (2), rocking from side to side to break the central electrode (3) and remove it. Residues middle electrode together with the glass (4) and the connecting pin (5) to clear a suitable punch (about 3 mm) (see. Fig. Spark plug). At the same time hold a candle in a vise. | A warning Do not damage the threads of the spark, and then not to damage the threads in the bore of the cylinder head, which will wrap custom adapter.
| 6. Thus prepared adapter to turn in the correct cylinder and connect it to the hose with compressed air. | 7. Maintain a constant pressure of the compressed air in the cylinder at least 6 bar. | | 8. Screw the tool VW-2036 to 1 and 4 of the bearing frame and compress the spring valve device VW541 / 1. You can also use the tool HAZET 2577-2. In this case, available on the device counterstop screwed to the studs camshaft and compress a spring device to compress the springs. | A warning The piston should in this case be at BDC.
| 9. Remove the housing crackers, loosen the valve spring. | A warning Firmly seated cone crackers beat light hammer blows through the mount.
| | 10. Remove the plates of springs and valve springs. | 11. Remove the valve stem seals. To do this, the plant uses a special tool (VW 10-218 3047 or VW, HAZET 791-5 puller or hammer HAZET 791-2). The old valve stem seals tend to sit very firmly. Therefore, to remove more likely to use a shock stripper. |

Setting PERFORMANCE ORDER | | 1. The plastic sleeve (A) (supplied with the valve stem seals) onto the valve stem. Valve stem seal (B) Apply a thin layer of oil, set zapressovochnoe device VW 10-214 or HAZET 2577 and carefully spread on the guide rod. Zapressovochnoe sleeve and remove the device. | A warning If the installation will be done without the use of a plastic liner, the valve stem seal will be damaged! As a result, the engine will consume too much oil!
| 2. Install the spring, valve plates and compress the spring. | 3. Set the cone biscuits, loosen the spring. | 4. Likewise, to replace the remaining stem seals. Fit bucket tappets and camshaft. |
