Ignition system
The ignition system ensures the ignition gasoline engine air-fuel mixture by a spark generated by the ignition coil. The ignition coil current at low voltage (12 V) is converted into a high DC voltage (In 25000-30000).
VW T4 engines are equipped with a fully electronic ignition system and fuel injection. In this section, description of the ignition system. The locations of components, see. Fig. Ignition system and fuel injection Digifant.
Electronic ignition system reliable, virtually wear-free and maintenance under control and repair is not required.
The ignition system consists of:
- Spark plugs; - High-voltage transformer (ignition coil, the unit is turned off, the final stage); - The ignition distributor with Hall sensor; - Injection device Digifant.
Ignition and injection systems have a common electronic control unit which has a memory for recording fault. If during the movement of the engine E will malfunction, they are recorded and stored in memory.
Before repair the ignition system must first interrogate the memory of the control unit. The memory is interrogated by a reading device VW1551 black and white diagnostic plugs fuse box. The sensing device is usually unavailable lover, and so it is advisable to make a transcript of faults in the service station. A warning When working in an electronic ignition system is necessary to take special safety precautions (see. Subsection 2.14.2).
