Removal and installation of a flywheel / drive disc
Withdrawal Setting | - Clean the flywheel by removing the traces of oil and grease. Check the surface of the flywheel for cracks left by heads of rivets furrows, stains and burrs overheating. Shallow scratches can be removed with fine sandpaper. Place the flywheel on a flat surface and with the help of the meter flatness check for signs of bending and deformation. In case of serious defects in the flywheel should be given in a groove in the studio Car.
- Strip and the mating surfaces of the flywheel / drive and drive the crankshaft, check their condition. If the crankshaft rear oil seal allows leak, replace it before you start installing the flywheel / drive plate in place (Section Replacing crankshaft rear oil seal).
- Attach a flywheel / drive disc to the crankshaft. Ensure registration applied during the dismantling of the landing labels. Please note that some of the engines are equipped with guide pins or unevenly spaced bolt holes, which makes the landing of a flywheel / drive shaft on the disc is quite unique. Before installing bolts lubricate thread locking sealant.
- Wedge a screwdriver into the teeth of the crown to hold the flywheel / drive a disk from turning and tighten fixing bolts with demanded effort, working in several (three) stages and moving from bolt to bolt in a diagonal manner.
| It is useful to mark the head of each bolt tightened chalk - it will comply with the proper procedure for tightening and avoid missing bolts. |
- Further assemblage is made in the reverse order of removal.
