Adjusting the tension of the toothed belt

Checking tension

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the top casing of a gear belt.
2. Turn the handle of the control device 210 VW loosen the spring.
3. Set the control device between the drive gear and camshaft gear high pressure fuel pump so that the toothed belt slides took place between the measuring probe and the control unit.
4. Measure and remember the value of the tension of a gear belt.
5. Turn the crankshaft one turn and repeat the measurement.
6. Calculate the average of two measurements and compared with a desired value. Required value: indication of the scale 12 ... 13.
7. If necessary, adjust the tension of the toothed belt according to the desired value.

Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Set the control panel.
2. Tighten the spring by rotating the handle of the control device to the value of the scale 12 ... 13. On the side of the dipstick has a steel tongue that extends beyond the control device. On the tongue coated white horizontal stripe. This horizontal bar must coincide with the edge of the control panel. If not, adjust the tension of the toothed belt.
3. Loosen the nut of the tensioning roller.

5. Tighten the tension wheel nut to 45 Nm.
6. Turn the crankshaft one turn in the direction of rotation and repeat the measurement, if necessary.
7. Check the start of the supply of high pressure fuel pump (see. Subsection 2.17.7.6).

A warning

If you do not have the control and regulation instrument (abroad, accident), it is possible to produce toothed belt tension means at hand. Before testing avoid high engine speeds.
