4-cylinder diesel engine

The adjustment range and the mandrel for checking the camshaft

Typically, timing adjustment is performed after repair, in which starred the toothed belt. If the timing is only necessary to check that all working operations are carried out without removing the toothed belt.

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the top casing of a gear belt and cylinder head cover.
2. Mark the direction of the toothed belt by an arrow marked on a felt-tip pen or pencil fat. The direction of rotation of the engine when viewed from the front, right, clockwise.
3. Set the crankshaft to TDC for cylinder 1.

A warning

This in no case does not rotate engine at central bolt of a cam gear. The rotation of the crankshaft cm. In section 2.5.2.1.

4. The crankshaft is set to TDC for cylinder 1, if the label on a flywheel (arrow) coincides with the appropriate mark on the clutch housing (left). At the same time the cam pair of first cylinder is directed upward (right).
5. In this position, the camshaft is installed in the slot line 2065 A. Ruler can be produced and independently (see. Fig. The adjustment range and the mandrel for checking the camshaft).
6. Set the line into the slot of a cam. Adjusting range (VW-N2065A) lets you scroll through the possible camshaft.
7. Balance the line parallel to the mounting cylinder head: for that little Crank up as long as one end of the mounting line rests on the cylinder head. Under the other end of the line using the probe to measure the tab caused the gap. Insert the probe petal, equal to half of the measured gap between the ruler and the mounting cylinder head. Rotate the engine to until the end of the line rests on the dipstick. The second petal probe enter the same size for the other end of the line - between the ruler and the cylinder head.
8. Now in the hole gear high pressure fuel pump and the pump bracket must enter 2064. mandrel Mandrel jammed gear pump. The mandrel can be made to (see. Fig. The adjustment range and the mandrel for checking the camshaft).
9. If the chuck can not be inserted into the opening bracket high pressure fuel pump, it is necessary to adjust the timing mechanism again.
10. Loosen the tension wheel nut and loosen the timing belt.
11. Loosen and remove the V-belt.
12. Unscrew the vibration damper and pulley water pump. To do this, engage first gear, apply the parking brake, jammed thereby crankshaft.
13. Remove the bottom casing of a gear belt.
14. Remove the timing belt.

A warning

The toothed belt should be without tears. Torn belt should always be replaced, because Belt rupture during operation may lead to severe engine damage.

If the removed gear belt it is necessary to crank camshaft, none piston should be at TDC. Otherwise, severe breakage pistons or valves.

15. Before the rotation of the camshaft must be installed on all pistons of the same height. To do this, put a chalk mark at the top of the crankshaft pulley (prerequisite: the crankshaft is set to TDC for cylinder), then turn the crankshaft pulley 1/4 turn (90 ?) to the right or to the left. Chalk mark indicating the right or left.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Through a hole in the gearbox check TDC alignment marks on the flywheel with the corresponding label.
2. Loosen the bolt of the camshaft gear 1/2 turn. Shoot down the drive gear on the camshaft hammer spike inserted into the 6 mm hole Rear toothed belt.
3. Put on the toothed belt.
4. Tighten the timing belt.
5. Tighten the tension wheel nut to 45 Nm.
6. Remove the mandrel gear pump.
7. Screw fixing camshaft drive gears tighten to 45 Nm.

A warning

If the old belt to be used, be sure to observe the direction of movement. Attaching a seat belt in a direction opposite to its motion can lead to rupture of the belt and damage the engine. Therefore, always install the belt so that the stamped arrow indicates the direction of rotation (viewed from the front, then clockwise).

8. Remove the installation line.
9. Rotate the crankshaft 2 turns in the direction of rotation of the motor. Blow to the toothed belt between the drive gear and camshaft gear pump with a rubber mallet and check again the desired value toothed belt tension and tighten if necessary.
10. Check the start of the fuel supply pump (see. Subsection 2.17.7.6).
11. Install the vibration damper, pulley and the bottom casing of a gear belt.
12. Install cover gasket cylinder head screwed on the cylinder head cover. The nuts are tightened to 10 Nm.
13. Install the top casing of a gear belt.
