If the engine overheats

If the temperature gauge coolant is in the zone of overheating, you feel a loss of engine power or hear a loud hissing or knocking, the engine may overheat. In this case, perform the following steps:

- Turn off the road and stop the car in a safe place;
- Translate the lever to position "P" ("Park") (automatic transmission) or put the gear lever in neutral gear position and set the parking brake. If the air conditioner is working, turn it off;
- If the coolant is flowing out of the vehicle or under the hood is steam, turn off the engine. Do not open the hood until the coolant does not stop flowing from under the vehicle or under the hood no longer go pairs. If there are no visible signs of leakage of coolant or steam, turn off the engine and make sure that the radiator fan cooling system working. If it does not work, turn off the engine;
- Check the condition and tension of the water pump drive belt. If the belt is in order, check for coolant leaks from the radiator, hoses, cooling system, or from under the car. (If the air conditioning was turned on, after the stop of it may drip cold water - this is normal);
A warning

During engine operation, keep hands, long hair, and clothing away from moving parts such as the radiator fan and drive belts to prevent injury.

- If the drive belt or the water pump is defective, or there is a leak of coolant, stop the engine immediately and contact your nearest Hyundai dealer;
A warning

Do not open the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Can be blown boiling coolant, and you can get burned.

- If you can not detect the cause of the overheating, wait until the engine coolant temperature returns to normal. If there was a leak of coolant, carefully remove the radiator cap and add water to the halfway mark of the liquid level in the expansion tank;
- Watch closely for further signs of overheating. If there was again the engine to overheat, consult your Hyundai dealer.
A warning

Severe reduction in coolant level indicates a leak in the cooling system. As soon as possible to appeal to the Hyundai dealer for inspection.
