Absolute Pressure Sensor
Absolute Pressure Sensor is a strain gauge that measures the pressure in the receiver. Inside the sensor is a metal diaphragm, coupled with a small wire. A change in pressure causes a deflection of the diaphragm, the tension wire and a change in its electrical resistance. The engine control unit supplies the sensor voltage of 5 V, and determines the magnitude of the voltage drop in the sensor. The sensor produces a voltage signal, and as pressure decreases the voltage drop in the sensor increases. Since the absolute pressure sensor is used as an air flow sensor, its signal is one of the most important types of information that is used by the ECU to control the fuel delivery and ignition timing.
